A few years ago I hauled home a sad and neglected 1948 ford convertible. I stuck it in the corner and started to accumulate some parts and to figure out a build plan and style.
Now that my 32 5w build is coming to an end it's time to get the '48 underway. My 32 took a little over 3yrs and I'm expecting this one to be a little longer, cause this one is gonna be super nice.
The build will be simple and clean and use most of the original drivetrain.

I will post some inspiration photos/concepts later.

    Stay tuned.

My favorite little girl Natty helping me push it in the shop. Purple "Frozen" flipflops provide excellent traction.

Looks like Biff Tanen's car from Back to the Future! I always loved '48 rag tops because of that movie.

I've had a few '46-'48s, Fords mostly, and a '48 Merc ragtop. Now I have a slew of roadsters...
My bud Marc told me to come get this nice rust free '47 Fordor, made me a gift of it.
Wife likes the four doors, so we're going to do it up '52 style, taildragger with skirts, all the original stainless trim, black...
    ... we have grand kids...

Are those dual spots 'Baby Appletons??

Best news of the week. The kids and I were unloading all the contents buried and piled in the car and found parts I didn't know I had. Both door garnish moldings!!! Now I'm only missing a couple convertible specific parts.

You are too kind. I caution subscribers that this one may take a while. My 32 took 3+ years. My son Sam estimates 4 years for this one.

I am really considering using a 49 ply grill. I have an entire 49 ply front clip and an extra grill.
