No, this is a swedish FC, Opel Manta body driven by Bjorn Andersson. The car was named Valkyrian. The shot is from Mantorp park.

Really early Pomona, can't make it bigger without losing fidelity

Gas dragster eliminations, probably '61 winternationals, Canada's Jack Williams vs. Gordon Collett from Portsmouth OH...I think Collett won the meet one of those early years.. (see Dean Lowe note below)

    Jimmy-Nix-Orginal-Mar-Car-Photo-Collection-2013.jpg
Oklahoma's Jimmy Nix...this engine came out of a '40 Ford sedan gasser...Jimmy would compete in numerous classes through top fuel for years, sadly died in a RED...

Bob Routhenwait at Pomona, probably '52.

for some reason this photo is labeled "San Gabriel," but it is actually in Arizona, maybe Beeline? I think the car is Dallas Martinson from San Diego, carbureted Chrysler on fuel

  18. The Jack Williams Pomona photo has to be '61. '61 was the first Winternationals.

You're right, I was there...(when Gordon Collett pulled up to the starting line, the announcer simply said "Here's Collett, from the East Coast." While Ohio is hardly the "East Coast," for some Californians, that didn't matter, everything east of Nevada was "the East Coast.")

  29. The tank farm in the background looks a bit like Indy, but there seems to be too much asphalt in this picture.
