Picked up my cab yesterday and brought it back home. Still no paint. It's real close to being able to squirt though. Cab's gonna be slick and painted black but the rest of the truck is gonna be put together as work in process...

Got my cab painted hot rod black last week and mounted it to the frame yesterday. Looks real decent. Now I can start with my wiring harness, steering column hookup, etc. etc. etc. 20150418_184737 (Small).jpg

I mounted the wiring harness in the middle of the firewall where the cowl vent used to be. Got the wires taped and ran to the rear end of the truck. Not sure where the harness is supposed to come through the firewall to the front end. there is an inch or so hole in the middle of the firewall about where the distributor is. Is this the spot to come through?

Got my grill painted over the weekend. had the fins painted silver. I had taken 2 grills and made one. It turned out pretty good from what I started with. Cranked the engine off of the dash key. that's a major milestone. All of the lights are working. Power steering is hooked up and working. Some dummy (myself) had the pressure and return lines reversed on the rack and pinion. The running boards are painted with a rhino liner type paint. Looks very good. I'm gonna leave the fenders bare metal.
It's been like 6 years off and on working on this truck. I'm ready to drive it around the block. :)

you have done a slick job on the rest of why bare metal fenders? the reason I mention this is every time you go to a gathering you are going to hear NICE RAT ROD, and it is certainly not that. just some old man advice Tom

Been making some good progress. I wound up pulling the front fenders off and having them painted..... Front end is aligned and I'm work on the rear fenders and bed sides. The patch work is almost done on them and are close to being ready to paint.
I wound up buying a new set of throttle bodys for my 3x2 setup... I could not get the butterflies to not have vaccum leaks. new parts should be here this week. I'm gonna wait to get the engine running good before I put the front fenders on.
    One step closer.

This past weekend I purchased a throttle body kit off of ebay. I had purchased a vintage 3x2 Rochester setup back a few years ago that was supposed to be ready to bolt on and ride. I'm just now getting around to hooking all 3 of the carbs up. could not get any justice and that's why I wound up buying the throttle body kit. It came with rebuild kits for all 3 carbs as well as the tri-power linkage setup. I rebuilt the carbs per the instruction manual supplied with the kit. the 2 secondary carbs still had all of the inner parts that I removed as well as replacing the jets. Followed their instructions for assembley, hooked up the fuel line and it fired right up. Runs smooth as silk.

Made some good progress this weekend. I got the front fenders and all back on the truck. Still working on the hood latching but it's close. The bed sides and rear fenders are close to going to the paint shop as well.
