    Here is a 394 WO6-9 -

    I bought six carbs from Kenny Emberly with old sp tops- could run those and it would look like this-

    Leaning towards finding six old chrome air cleaners.. 4th down would rule (-:

    I worked at the San Jose Cadillac/Oldsmobile dealer in '62-'63. There was a white '62 Olds ('Dynamic 88'?) tudor stick, std. steering, power brakes.
    I drove the car a couple of times, elderly lady owner loved it, our resident drag racing sales mgr. tried to get her to trade up to a Starfire, she read him off with "You keep that automatic stuff, I like my standard shift!"
    The car steered effortlessly, I was impressed. I also mistakenly thought we'd see stick Oldses 'till Doomsday.

    Both my first cars back in high school( Pontiac Grand Prix SJs) were rusted heaps. Strangely they each had between 60,000 and 70,000 miles on'm. I also had a third one about 15 years later with under a hundred. What I'm saying is I think most people just drove less than we do nowadays.

    I guess... it could be 148k ? But the seats were original too- and they didnt have any wear on them either that would correlate with that kind use... Gas pedal pad was in the back seat. Someone pulled the carpet obviously... I wonder if it wasn't someones grandparents car.... bad u joint? maybe they pulled the drive shaft and it just never went back together? hmmmm... or maybe the pulled the drive shaft because the flat towed it... Kinda fun to speculate. I bought it with no title so its hard to say what this thing has been though or where it came from. Looks as though its been sitting a long time from all the pitting on the pot metal... so moister and sun it received plenty. Guess I'll know more when we start ripping into it. Maybe clutch and flywheel wear will help tell part of the story...

    I bought my first ever pair of original 1932 ford frame rails today... believe it or not. Fitting for this car they came out of an old hot rod. Really stoked about this.

    Going to kick up the rear- run a 36 rear crossmember with a 36 front spring in the back... model a spring reversed eye and crossmember up front.

    In the middle a F-1 crossmember and pedals...

    I have some 36 rear bones to run with the oldsmobile rear end. The front I have a model a axle I'll have titus drop and a nice pair of 40 bones with 40 backing plates and ford hubs mated to buick drums.

    F-1 steering with an olds steering wheel. I got a 60 olds steering wheel I pick up friday I might run if I don't run the one from the car.

    Stromberg carbs are on their way... I have a lowboy radiator- a cut down deuce shell... other than nickle and dime stuff I think I have it in the bag....

    short a proper ignition... and Valve covers...

    In the market for a dizzy and if I can't find some cool aftermarket not in production covers will prob opt for the offy's... as they look pretty damn good to me!

  24. Don't feel bad man .... you can put a 455 back in it ...will work well for the air conditioner ! Another cool cruiser for you. A fleet of them really ... lucky guy ! I like those old hardtop Olds as much as the next person ... but a hot rod coupe with a 394 and a hardtop with a 455 watching ... can't be all that guilt producing. Hell ... I'll go into the yard and hug a tree for 'ya. There, blessed. Yank it !

    I'm giving the hard top to my buddy that helped me get it- :) I'm robbing it of all the good stuff though (drivetrain and olds stick stuff)... he can do whatever he wants with it after that.

    This is for anyone wanting to know how similar the 394 is to the 303- they're in the same family... Other than obvious differences like valve covers, deck height and front cover etc etc... THIS says it all...

    I have a date with @hellerlj on Sunday! (-;
