Anybody try one of Butch’s Cool Stuff grills for 49-51 Merc. What is your opinion? I want to change my grill is why I am asking.

I just looked it up and I agree with 19Fordy, not very attractive, looks more like a 51-52 Buick grille insert to me, no way I'd pay $1330 for that!

Sorry but it's a no for me too. But it's your car and what looks good to you is all that matters. Happy hunting.

  5. A different grill should enhance a custom car, I don't see how this would look better than the original Merc grill.
If it was cheap I'd say give it a try - at 1330 $ no way.

Thanks guys, I have my reservations also and they are same as your observations. I will try to find a center piece to replace the original Merc. one. I hate to cut up a good grill to make it, somebody may need a whole grill someday.

Have you considered a '50 Mercury center tooth? They're a bit smoother, with just a rib down the center and no lettering. It's a subtle change but should bolt-on and does look nice.
