Thanks...I'll post my own pics as soon as it arrives..the shipper is a bit behind..hoping to have it by the weekend
maybe, which is good cause I'm 6'2" and I sold my 4.5 chopped 31 just for that reason...I couldnt see!!
ok...I received the coupe and its definitely very cool and has alot of 50's/60's mojo on it...but one thing I noticed that seemed strange was that the frame was boxed and it is a very clean job of boxing...when did boxing frames get popular? if it happened in the 50's, then I suppose pros were doing it for clients..but by the looks of the other welds on the car, the three teenagers that built the car didnt box the frame...so when did boxing start?..anybody know?
The guy from Olean bought and sold this car last year or the year before. He drove it for a short time. I think it came from another area and I'm pretty sure it wasn't built here. I saw it in person one time where these photos were taken.
I will get some soon..the car is in the muffler shop getting new glass packs, the ex owner cut off the tailpipes and mufflers at the exhaust manifolds and was gonna put lake headers on it, so I'm sticking with the stock manifolds and redoing the tailpipes...glass packs just seemed appropriate..
I wonder if this is the same roadster you are talking about Plus boxing the frame was common on the east coast in the fifties Such as my car they took it one step further by welding the frame too the body for drag racing
ok..so its common to see a model A boxed back in the fifties?..it is an east coast car, so what you say makes sense..its a very nice boxing job, not what I would have expected from a bunch of teenagers
If it were mine, I would want to scoot the radiator/grille shell back as much as possible to "A" stock position and down a little and also maybe do something with the headlights, but thats just my opinion, my opinion also is that just because it was done back in the day doesnt mean it was done to look the best it could then either.
In the 50s an early 60s I was in three car clubs,I striped and painted names on cars,so was great fun to be in 3 clubs, each one had guys that would help out other members when ask,on one part or the other of someones build. It maybe that a club member or good freind did the boxing part to help out.
So is Frank the builder?...Jeff sent me a copy of his ad that he used to sell the car when he owned it...the guy I bought it from is Eric Faraone...maybe he bought it from Jeff?..I'm just trying to piece together the puzzle here, and get the history correct..Eric said he went up to Orlean and bought the car from the orig owner?...like I said..trying to piece history together..
