Happy to see a young guy that is in to working on old cars! Looks like a nice car to start with and you are doing a great job. Wish I was 23 again! (67)

I decided to do some work since I couldn't be at the yorkville show today.

I cut out the center of the original taillight lens just big enough for the 60 Lincoln lens to slide through from the back. Then I used the chrome trim to sandwich the two lenses together for a factory look. I think if you could get a decent pair of the '54 'rocket slot' surrounds they'd top it off.

I think it was a 1954 only piece, from memory they used them on the whole lineup.

This motor runs like a sowing machine but randomly it will spudded and wanna die unless I keep it alive with the throttle and after a while of driving it goes back to normal. This will happens mostly when the motors is hot. Any suggestions

You think something is moving around and blocking the fuel in the carb?

Sounds like crap in the float bowl. I've had similar issues after waking a sleeping giant. I like to add a fuel filter back by the tank to catch the junk. Preferably the plastic disposable kind that functions like a sediment bowl.

I should probably clean out the sediment bowl. I know I have some shit at the bottom

Took mine off when I did the carb swap. I need to fab some mounts up so I can use it again. I'm running a Rochester. So it's got that tiny filter in the fuel inlet. I have clogged it multiple times, even though my tank looks spotless inside.

People don't believe me when I tell them things like passanger side mirror, sun visor, rear view, radio and back bumper were considered add on options.
Won't be long before no one remembers roll up windows.

You are correct. If I remember correctly the passanger side turn signal was optional. I still don't get why they moved the healthy summer from the floor. It's one of my favorite features of old cars. Moving the stater button from the floor was however a good move.
What dimwit came up with the idea of the starter switch on the carburator linkage.

I know my dad has a 1958 Buick with throttle start. "We need something new for our Buick line" "Lets start the car with the throttle mashed to the floor!" "....GENIUS!!"

The English weren't too far behind. I used to work on the old Jaguar XKE cars. Those were designed as right hand drive and had a manual choke. Well when they converted them over to left hand drive, they never moved the choke lever which was located next to the passenger door. So to adjust the choke you had to lay across the car to get to the lever.

English engineering is an animal of it's own. I worked on close to 50 of those things (I was the new guy and no one else wanted anything to do with them) none of them ran the same, and none of them ran right.
The explains the old saying, "You have a Jag huh, so what do you drive?"

I've heard that the old Jag inboard brake could bring a man to his knees.

I think book time on that was like 10 hours. You actually had to remove the rear interior to access some of the bolts.

I was having a weird idle issue where when the motor was hot it would stutter and Shut down. Turns one idle screw port was clogged. What the hell!!!
