I was at a local cruise night Saturday and an old friend ask me if I knew anyone who wanted a '60 Buick.
I have always loved these cars. There used to be a red mild custom here in town when I was in high school, and if that didn't sell me Hub Harness's "Cinnamon" sure did. Still one of my top ten mild customs.
Went to look today, previous owner put a 401 and the rest of the drive train out of a '64 wagon in it years ago. It has been sitting just like this for 10 years. All of the parts are there but in the trunk and another shed out of the weather.
Very solid body, little rust in quarters but good floors and rockers. No idea what shape the engine is in but is has been repainted back when, for what I gave I don't care.
Kinda stoked, now if I can just get the new garage complete I have something to do this winter.

  2. Looks pretty solid... have fun!!!

Congrats - yep, great body style - plenty of factory custom work already done. hope chrome is in great shape, that could cost a few bucks to plate. post more pics as you do more to it.

  5. Nice, George. They make great road cars...is it an A/C car?

Hey Rocky, it comes with a compressor, under dash unit and compressor mount. So I guess the answer is "sort of"

  7. Cool.....using 1964 stuff, it should now have a 400 turbo and an open drive shaft ....making the car even nicer to drive...and no pesky transmission leaks on the driveway ... a huge plus.

  13. Very cool George! Those are beautiful cars!

  14. Great start, those cars are already customized as designed. I agree with Rocky, hopefully the 64 401 swap includes the T400 trans and the open drive. No more dynaslow and torque tube.

The roof line on the 59-60 GM Coupes is just stunning.
I've got a 60 Cadillac Coupe and I think it is an absolute work of art.
I hope you give us a build thread to watch this baby come back to life.
    Thanks for posting.

This build will be postponed awhile. I am building a shop at the house this summer. I'll post stuff as I tinker though.

Put a socket on the crank bolt and the nailhead turns over. 64 engine was painted before they installed it. Could be a fresh engine. 10+ years ago.

It looks like you have the makings of a nifty custom there. Keep us posted on the progress when it has a shop to get worked on in.

Doing a brake job on an ot rig out in the driveway this morning before the sun gets too high I can well relate to the need a shop before I work on it thing.

How about a post or photo of this "cinnamon" that is the inspiration in the mean time.

  27. How many would you like? LOL I have piles of them over the years since it was first finished back in the '80's...here's a few from the KKOA Hangin' Dice Nats in '87:

Also, here is a link to a great write up Rikster did on it:
