taking Miss Linda our for bagel brunch this morning, great day here in seacoast NH. 005.JPG I agree Moriarity, drive 'em if you got 'em! And Miss Linda has a handicapped placard which gets us the wide parking spots with cross hatched unloading buffer. One small benefit of the "golden" years.

This 40 was brought to the show by a young fellow that said his Grandfather had built it back in the 50's . His Grandfather promised to give the car to him as a wedding present. His Grandfather passed on before the wedding but had made sure his Grandson would get the car.

The paint is an old lacquer but is in good condition. He has the hood but he left it home for now because the mounting system is pretty awkward. Apparently it would spin around hinged from the front and lay at an angle in front of the car while still attached. It is kind of hard to describe. He plans to put it back on as soon as he figures out a plan.

Looks like about a 4 inch section and about a 6 inch channel.

Hey 39 Guy. Help me understand how this works. A 4 inch section "raises" the fenders (visually) but the car also has a 6 inch channel. What I don't understand is how the bottom of the fenders is level with the body after the running boards are omitted. Are the fenders sectioned as well? WTF? ("What's The Fabrication"). Thanks, Lucas

Note that 39 Guy said "looks like". I think his estimates are high, and possibly redundant. Compare that coupe with my convertible:
    !WStrimR.jpg WStrim0915.jpg
My car is channeled 2.5", with the fenders raised a like amount (required "sectioning" in the rear quarters and hood only). I chose to keep the running boards on mine, so 2.5" was trimmed off the bottom of the body. If we had taken off the running boards, the car's proportions would have been very much like the above coupe. The coupe appears to be channeled a little more than mine -- maybe 4" -- but the only sectioning necessary would have been to raise the rear wheel houses, the same as mine.

Heck I don't know how he did it...... I was just going off what I saw when he opened the door. It looked like about 6 inches between the floor and the bottom of the door and did not consider that he may have raised the fenders. . 50 Fraud obviously knows more on this subject than I do. If I ever see the car again I will take the time to measure it and report back here if I think I can shed any light on how it was done.

Channeling and sectioning is well beyond my skill set so maybe I should really not speculate (guess) on such matters in the future. Sorry for any confusion on the matter.

I went back and looked at my original higher resolution pictures of the car to check. It is hard to tell but I think it is 40 trim.
