Finished the dual carbs and headers and got the exhaust put on. Here's a short clip of the 235 accelerating in second and shifting to third. I goosed it a little between gears just so I could see what it sounded like on the video. That's not how I normally drive. But man, I love the sound of this thing now. Hoping it gets a little louder as the mufflers burn in.

I did ... my 2nd red & white hardtop. This one ended up with chromed display board headers & some 17'' or 19'' steelpacks found behind the muffler shop. It was crackly ....

  9. When and where I lived, (60s, rural Wisconsin) only the town idiot would put a glass pack on a 6 popper, the rest of us that couldn't afford a V8, kept it as quiet as possible so we weren't ridiculed.
So although it is the right sound, sorry, but it is the sound of a village idiot in 1965..

Probably only to you.... And possibly always will be. Some things are so entrenched?

^^^^fair enough. Please don't in any way be offended by my comment, it was not intended to be offensive, although it may have appeared that way.

I know what you mean, but his sounds much better to me with the duals than a single exhaust 6 banger with a glasspack.

And BTW, that is how I normally drive.:)

I wouldn't mind BEING the "village idiot" if my 6 ran that well and sounded that good!

^^^^^^^ You aren't old enough. In 1954, before the Chev V8 came out, that is what a cool Chev sounded like.

reminds me of a buddy's '54 back in the '60s. he went to a junkyard and salvaged a stock corvette split manifold and ran some short glasspacks--sounded like yours!

I'd say it sounds perfect!! There's a few of us village idiots on here that even though we CAN afford a V8, still prefer a 6. They were the hot set-up back in the early 50's, and, in my opinion, the cool set-up today. Let's face it, many of the V8 boys will get left at a light by some kid in a juiced up rice burner anyway - I prefer just cruising around and enjoying the sweet sounds of a 6 with duals.

That's how my first '54 Chevy sounded back in the 70's and how my '51 sounds today. Love a 6 with duals.

"I got a hot rod Chevy with the twin carburetors
And I know a baby that's a real gone tomater
But she's got a daddy with a Caddy that'll date her
Do you see what I mean?"

Not everyone appreciates the Chevy six lol.
