I'm doing an early 60's inspired Kustom build this year on a 65' Merc. I love that era...
I'm having a hard time on which way to go with Supremes.... regular offset, or reversed? I think both look great....

Just looking for any feedback... pics with specs.... pros and cons.... To reverse or not to reverse, that is the Supreme question!

"Wide Track" was all the rage in the early sixties. Go reversed, if you've got the room.

I bought reverse Astros for my 61 Dodge several years ago. after I put them on I thought they looked goofy, especially from the front of the car, plus one side rubbed and the other side almost rubbed. lucky for me a friend bought them from me at a slight discount since they were all new and I went back and bought regular offset. 14X7 with pinner whites.

Funny, I'm dealing with the same thing, I have standard 14x7 astro's on my 64 olds jetstar and really wanted the look of the reversed one's. So i ordered some 14x7 reversed and they won't even come close to fitting on the back, which really surprised me because I've seen impala's and other big gm's run them. Have 14x 6's on order now, hope they are at least close!

I vote reversed, but clearly some math is required before you go ahead and buy 'em!
Love to see some before and after pics.

I think their spec for reversed is a 1 5/8" back space. Make sure you have room. The rev look great but I doubt a rev 7" rim would fit many cars, sixes rubbed on my buddies 59 Chev with 7.50-14's and 59 Chevys have lots of room!!

  15. Reversed looks goofy on a full sized body car like yours.

I agree with most of you, that Reverse look the best... however, I'm also bagging this car so chances are I will just go normal so I don't have any issues.

I'll probably start a build thread when I start tear down. Should be in a couple of weeks!

    Well...what did we decide????

  18. If you reversed them wouldn't the hollow part of the spokes show? :D :D

reversed or offset for the nit pickers would have everything to do with how much room you got to put them on. they certainly look better to me with the rim sticking out but if there is no room there is no room.

  19. reverse, if you have room my brother is having to get standard for the back because of the skirts he just got for it IMG_694866231737584.jpeg

I really like the deep look of the reverse better, but I'll more than likely go with the regulars. Haven't fully committed yet and I won't be until later in the build. I haven't even started tearing the car down yet. I't's going to be another busy summer for this guy!!!!!!!

I just want to say, nothing looks better on a '60 sled, than Astros and pin whites. whatever way you go, it will be killer.

x2 brother!!! Heavy flake candy roof... light and dark blues to match my interior. Some lace work... rest of the car white... slammed... bellflower pipes... Love that era, and cannot wait to finish this car. I've never seen a custom 65' Merc before.
