Got the brakes adjusted right, and it stops well. It was 78 and sunny today, so I got to drive the car a bit around the neighborhood, and it's got some power! Sadly, the rear axle is a peg-leg, so it's gonna boil the right rear tire at will, even at speed. May have to look for a posi unit sooner rather than later.

Now, I've got to get some glass in the car. Anyone have anything for sale?

So progress has been pretty steady lately. I got some back glass for the car, and have been working hard on getting (at least) the top ready for sealer/primer.

Was repairing a couple small areas of rust today, when my trusty old Snap-On 110v MIG died. The feed mechanism intermittently works, but it's not getting consistent power to the motor, so that tells me the circuit board has died. In trying to find parts, of course they're no longer made. Crap...

So I'll be looking at welders soon. Anyone have any thoughts about the Eastwood TIG200? I've seen some really good reviews of this one.

Man...what a bummer. I thought I was getting ahead finally...

Hi, just read through your entire thread, you have done some really good work on her. Im doing a similar build to yours but with a more traditional carbed 350sbc. I have to say im very impressed with what you have done tho well done. Im hoping to get mine on road for some of the shows over here in the summer but mine will only be ratty on outside i really need new doors and trunk (and hood lol) but there is nothing to be had over here in the uk and the shipping is so much it makes it impossible to get large bits sent over lol. anyway check out my thread ive just updated it from what ive been doing in the last six or so months. Jason.

Thanks Jason! It's been a long road so far, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now (and don't think it's a train!)

I bet getting big parts over the pond is a pain, heck even getting decent parts here is a pain sometimes. Good luck on your build.

    Jason.

  6. I have a tig 200. Like it so far. I haven't used it a lot yet but am about to start on a Gambino taildragger kit on my 50.

Craziness at work lately, but I have been working on getting the car in epoxy primer. The whole roof is done, as is the back of the car.

Still have a TON of bodywork to do, but I'm tired of things rusting on me.

Next up, I want to get the rest of the body in primer, then hopefully paint the roof and install some glass.

Keep going , little by little. You'll get there. You're doing great. You need to win many battles before you can win the war.

Last few weeks have been busy with bodywork. Got most of the car in epoxy primer, and have been spraying /block sanding high-build primer lately.

Had a fiasco with the primer (the UPS guy showed up covered in grey primer. Apparently the package leaked), so that set me back a week or so.

But, I did get the roof paint today, 1952 Saddle Brown Metallic. Hope to get it sprayed in the next couple weeks.

No updates the last couple weeks. My wife and I went on a cruise for our anniversary, and then had the parents in town.

But, while my dad was here visiting (from Memphis), he mentioned that he always wanted a '65 Ranchero. So we fired up Craigslist, and found one up in Greeley. Lo and behold, we came back with a really nice '65 Ranchero 289! It's a factory V8 car with a C4 and fairly rust-free.
Here's my dad with the car:

So I've got to get it roadworthy in the next few weeks, so we can drive it cross country back to Memphis. Should be an exciting trip!

Been driving the Ranchero lately, but enjoying having two classics at the house. My '52 and dad's '65. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1433301922.342178.jpg

Will get back to the Chevy soon, I promise!!

Drove the Ranchero 1100 miles back to Memphis, so now it's time to get back to the '52. Got the roof in paint, so now I can put glass in the car. Also, ordered my 1-piece windshield, which should be here this week.

I'm starting grad school in a couple weeks, so trying to get as much done before then.

Slid the back glass in place, and once the cowl is painted, can put in the windshield.

Got my new 1-piece windshield today, and just for grins, installed it. First time in prob 50 years that it's had a solid windshield.

Wasn't happy with the way the dash looked. There was some crazing in the clearcoat. So, the dash got stripped, re-primed, and repainted. Also painted the steering column to match the body. Ignore the steering wheel, it's not what I'm going to use. image.jpeg

Thanks crusty! It's a factory color, Saddle Brown Metallic. It's really pretty in the sunlight.

Two kids in college, a third on the way, no funds for the car. But it will still be here when the time comes, still motivated!

Been accumulating a bunch of parts, and this came in this week. Guess I don't have any excuse to not finish bodywork now. Need to get the rest painted before it gets cold out, so I can assemble during the winter. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1444351658.515575.jpg

More painting done. Got the hood, one door, trunk done. The quarters are in primer, and should be painted in the next week or so. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1446660780.811322.jpg
