Hi I'd like to know if it is possible to make 1948 F1 front brakes self adjusting. I bought the F100 parts to convert but can't really get stuff together. Did someone do this conversion and could show some pics and give any hints? thanks Jan
Here's a couple pics for ya. Ford truck brakes from 48 thru 55 are all the same. These are '53 with all new hardware. The adjusters are "right" and "left" and need to be on the correct side. The cable will be toward the rear when installed. Although both backer plates look the same, they are not. Pay close attention to the bolt holes for the spindle and their relationship to the wheel cylinder. The spindle top will be in the way on the brake line connection if you get it wrong. One extra thing I like to do is get the adjusting slot on the backerplate in line with the star wheel. One will be right and the other will need to be welded and re cut. It's not absolutely necessary to do this but it helps make any adjustments with the wheels on.

Yes, It works well...you just need to back up and hit the brake once in a while, like backing out of your driveway. I know you already have the hardware but I'm attaching a list of good part numbers for those that stumble on this thread and need them. They're all '66 Ford truck which work well.
