They're a real bitch. The shafts are .008" bigger than the hole. I was going to take them out but they're in truly good condition. If the threads were worn at all I would replace them, but all the shafts on the front end are in fantastic shape. The good thing is I was able to cancel my order for them, and order other front end stuff like a drag link and pitman arm rebuild kit.

A couple good fitting parts I found were the Metro Rubber stab bar bushings and steering connection rod boots.

Got all the front end bits blasted after work tonight. Forgot to take a pic. They will be powder coated tomorrow hopefully if the guys have time on the paint line at work...

Much better. The spindles and uprights will be painted separately. The kingpin bushings need to be honed to fit, so I want to assemble them before powder coat.

Man, you're working on that thing like you want to drive it. Those parts look really nice. I just hope I'm at that point on mine by the end of the summer.

Haha! In all honesty, I feel like I have been procrastinating on the dirty work, but thanks for the encouragement!

So a few updates... I know its OT but I bought a truck I have been looking for and finally found a solid one. First gen Cummins manual 4x4. So now I have a proper rig to pick up parts. Which I did... Picked up a used crate motor for a song. The guy also threw in an extra intake, carb, starter, short water pump, and a bunch of other odds and ends.

Front clip is buttoned back up. Gotta get a hone for the kingpin bushings on the spindles.

Spindles are honed, kingpins in and shimmed. Had my helper do the other side. Front clip is back on the frame. Starting to look like a car...

So I decided to deviate a little from the initial plan. It's gonna get discs up front. The car is going to be a stout street set up when I build the motor for it, and I will be more comfortable driving it hard with discs. Ordered the brackets last night.

I finished rebuilding the idler arm last night, pics will be up soon...

Your front end is looking real good. I'm with you on the discs, they are definitely the way to go. I'm putting them up front on mine too. I'm trying to do mine as period correct as I can, but I'll vote for safety over being traditional every time.

Thank you sir. If it was an open wheel car that was lighter, drums wouldn't worry me as much and would need to be there to look right..

The crate motor I bought is so I can enjoy it and shake it down while I build the second motor. I'm aiming for 400hp, which I think is gonna be too much for drums in a 3300 lb car.

Thanks man. I'm gonna reverse engineer the brackets so I can make my own and sell them to Hambers...

Not much to update. Had to let the checking account cool down since I got it to roller status. Should be ordering rear brakes and the whole clutch set up in 2 weeks. Got a little more powder coating done.

When did you come up here and steal my wifes Chihuahua? No wait, the wifes Chihuahua has bigger ears. Some years back, I bought a 51 Chevrolet Bus Coupe right here off the HAMB classifieds. Lost some interest, and gave the car to my nephew; we then used all MY parts and $$$ to put the car together. Now it looks like the car is coming back to me as he's lost interest; actually, his new CNC machine shop business is taking all his time, and he does't have any time for the car. But, now I need to let another OT car project go. It's always something. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
