Spent the whole day getting the 302 in the mercury and now it fits fine after i fabered motor mounts but i will have to fab oil pan, transmission mount and new driveshaft with slip in the axel becuse Engine and trans is from a 1969 Ford van, its the only Ford 302 that dont have the right oil pan and a C4 without slip joke, offcourse i buyed that basterd....Alot of work but seems like a healthy engine.

The motor is in the mercury so now im waiting for a new driveshaft and an oil pan so back to the Ford! Try to fit in the back window and get the right flow, its hard but will take a string and atatche to the roof and back and inspect the "flow" tomorrow. 14. Instead of using a string I will sugest you to use a long steel ruler , a tig welding rod or something similar that bends easy but still stiff enough to bend in a nice curve. By the way the chop looks good so far.

  15. I dig the car! Love the mercury wagon too! Sweet little bobber as well. Killer garage, I want a lift! Hell, I want heat in the garage first, cold saps ALL of my motivation.... Its warm here this week tho, finally in the 40's at times, still a foot of snow on the ground tho.....

Todays work finished the back window with welding and layed som filler im pretty pleased with the flow so the last i did today was lay back the trunk and lay in windshield just to get a real look.

Now the question is should i shave handels and locks? Im actually really like the handels on the 49s they look kustom from factory i think but the look without handels is real smooth either way im gonna keep the original side trims and not french the headlights just shave the hood. What you guys think?

I would shave the handle but do everything else that you were planning on.

IMHO, In this instance, I would absolutely shave the handles.

BTW, if you ever decide to walk on the wild side...
I remember a nearly stock '51 Ford convert (from "Reader's Rides" in the little pages) that crossed over with a set of '54 Chevy tail lights neatly frenched into the wind splits in a canted position. These might also look good on your ride.

  27. You'll like the 390 and it will like petrol. That's what's in the '47 Hudson in my avatar. Get's around 9 mpg with a family of 5 loaded. The big thing I noticed in your garage is the Stars and Stripes on the wall. THAT'S AWESOME!!!
