  11. Cars like the High & Mighty roadster brought about the end of actual street roadsters in the class. Guys like me could not compete with purpose built cars. :(

Its a shame that the true street roadsters went away. Here are a few more pictures. downloadfile-174.jpeg downloadfile-173.jpeg

Does anyone know when the Street Roadster rules mandated original shape fenders on all 4 corners. Cars like this one and Dean's were at a disadvantage, against the "sickle fendered" examples posted above. 2012-07-23 150258.jpg

  26. As far as I know, the rules only ever called for fenders on all 4 tires. It never specified what type. Aero was not a big concern at the speeds we were running in the 60's. The advantage the cycle fendered cars had was the fenders were lighter, and they could use class weight on the rear for ballast. My car was 100% steel Ford, and still needed 80lbs of steel plate in the bed to make class with 301 cu in. I never even considered anything but the stock fenders.

Charles' Galaxie back in '67 I believe at Green Valley Raceway, he's a local guy that runs a machine shop in Arlington, TX. He still has a Thunderbolt he races.
