    Interesting. This is the same car thats on the cover of Ganahls book, but with the flatty swapped out for sbc and a T grill shell. [​IMG]

    Action Comics, February 1939

    It's interesting to see how illustrators show hot rods and race cars. They often emphasize movement and color, especially on the cover since that's what the editor demands because it "sells." Since they usually are not "car guys" the artists sometimes get the details wrong or take artistic license to make a compelling image. This comic book cover art looks pretty good on all counts.

    If I remember correctly this Action Comics #9 had a GREAT cover as shown but NO story line on racing cars inside. The old bait and switch trick. Still worth a lot of $$ because it had a Superman story.

    Just found this thread and good stuff rbantique. I was surprised to see a couple from CT on the aug 30 post I actually used to see this 53 on the streets when I was a kid.
