I have a 36 2dr. that is fenderless, channeled and a one peace hood and grille, I like how it is turning out. I like your 37, they look like old dirt track racers. Keep up the good work.
I'm not convinced about moving the front axle forward guys. He said he bobbed the rear making it shorter back there. Moving the axle might throw off the proportions; too long in the front. Jahdl, Can you mock up some of the front sheet metal and take another picture to show us the vision you have?
Probably look different with the bigger tires too. Keep building man. You're off on the right foot so far.....continue.
im in the middle of a 37 pickup build that I want to run fenderless I did move the front axle forward and I like the look. yours is very nice so far please keep us in the loop on this one.
I know it's too late now but in my opinion it has to be pre 35 to run fender less , for what it's worth. Unless you are doing a track only car.
Kiwi, can I convince you it can be down?? I'm not finished yet, but I see the finished piece in my head
...many years ago I ran a 38 Chevy fenderless for awhile, from certain angles it looked ok, but from the side not so good,...(the wheels needed pushed ahead to look rite fenderless)...I eventually ran fenders since that was the plan originally
i meant the ford. all i'm saying is could be made to look just as good, if not better with the fenders on.
In New England, retired race cars come up for sale often, and sometimes they happen to be fenderless 37 Fords; I have lusted after each one of them, so I approve of this endeavor. I agree with the guys saying move the front axle forward. Going spring-over might be enough but I wouldn't rule out a spring behind setup, particularly with the stock crossmember on those frames being so deep.
see my avatar...i'm doing a 36 chopped and channeled...35 front I just put a set of trailer fenders on the rear which I think help the look.the wb.is streched
Jhadl, we need an update on your '37 . This project is too cool to not have a proper conclusion . Post up more pictures and information about how the build is moving along, inquiring minds need to know. ......................... Jack
the op has not been on the forum since May of '15.......................whatever happens to these guys and their builds, makes you wonder???
...I know you can pull this off, that head-on front shot looks great;...here's a 38 and a 39 Chevies done this way,...I think they nailed the look.
I always loved the open wheel modified look of the late 30's coupes. I remember a particular 37 coupe with a Algon injected olds motor with a tractor gas tank where the passenger seat used to be. Water pipe roll bar filled with sand heated and bent between two pine trees. Ruined me for life the first time I heard it run. Been addicted to that sound since I was about 6 yrs. old.
