Ok i got a chevy 355 and turbo 350 in need of a home. I found a couple of candidates a couple early 50s chevy 2 door deluxe, and a couple chevy 2 door sedans. There all reasonably priced close to 1k. How hard are these to fit a sbc and th350 in? Are they easy to lower just cut coils and slide some blocks in the back? I've never got into anything quite this old, 67 is the oldest I've really had. Any input would be greatly appreciated, and if i shouldnt go this route other suggestions would be cool. Id like to make it for the 2015 hamb drags in joplin, i only live 2 hours from there.

Not hard. You can buy pre-made stuff. Common swap.

You'll need to change the rear axle, too.

The swap should be easy. But are your plans to be in the HAMB drags or cruise to them?
I would kinda like to be in them and hope to be in them again soon.

Chassis Engineering Motor & Tranny Mounts (very affordable from Yogi's)

4x4 S-10 Rear Axle (most newer ones are 3.42:1 and limited slip)

Stock Springs, radiator, and many other parts. 1 wrap removed from the front coils and 4" lowering blocks on the rear. 6.70-15 Cokers and viola!!

Well if i drive there im probably going to swap my wifes 700r4 out of her camaro for the th350. The drive from ft smith up 540 could be hard without a 4th hole. I would like to run it a couple times on the strip also. What kind of rear axle is a good swap? A 12 bolt from a big gm or a 10 bolt from a camaro/bird? Ive been checking this forum out for a while, but never registered. Awesome info on here for sure.

That 700 will get you out of the hole real good just make sure you get the TV pressure set correct.

55 up is a lot easier but older models can be done. You have to modify engine compartment, replace trans and rear axle, do a few mods that are not necessary on models made for the V8.

1976'ish Camaro rear will work. You will have to weld perches on.
