Today the gascap is allmost a centerpice on hotrods and are often showed in magasines.
But in the old magasines from the 50:s early 60:s they are allmost never mentioned.
What where used when the stock one was replaced for any reason?

    Anders.

Most were probably nothing fancy other than being chrome or stainless. Whatever you could find at the junk yard or parts house.

They were all moved to the trunk or hidden on the customs.

  4. Adding chrome gas cap was usually the first thing I did. HRP

    To answer my own question.
I been looking thru about 100 magasines from 55-61.
More and less all cars with stock gastank seems to use a chromed
or stainless cap as mentioned above.
Allmost all cars with a relocated seems to have a hidden gascap in trunk.
And those with a visible gascap the top of left rearfender or above the trunk
    seems to be most common.
When ignoring all stock and not visible gascaps this is what i found.

This is what I'm going to use on a 33 5-window. Believe they are from the mid-fifties.
