That would most likely depend on the state, but there is nothing in the car ID number that would indicate body style. The ID numbers is on the frame and both of my frames are from under sedans, but now have coupe bodies. Unless someone pulled up an original registration on the car that showed body style.

Ha ha! Maybe I should add a cooler rack to the frame! I actually used to make them for a place I worked at 20+ years ago!

33coupepics 001 (Small).jpg 33coupepics 004 (Small).jpg 33coupepics 006 (Small).jpg In case you think I'm slacking..Work is progressing on the drivers side 1/4 panel..Lots of fitting, slicing and beating..Tacked it up with the mig and tig welded a good portion of it. I'm not that great at tig welding thin steel so I will use the mig to finish it up..

The key to TIG welding is cleanliness. If you cleaned the rust off first (every bit of it) you will have much more success. A quick sandblast of the area, then a wirebrush to clean the sand from the pits (yes, the sand down in the pits still affects the welding) and it will be like welding on new metal.

Wow, when I first saw this thread I thought...make a sedan into a 5 window, yeah right.

It's obvious you know what your doing and it's coming along great. Too many of these projects are started as dreams by the less capable, then abandoned.

    Looking forward to your progress!

A lot of times, just posting in it will subscribe you (it does for me but that could be set up in the settings or something). Or, at the top of each page of the thread on the right side is a "watch" button.

    Good luck!

    Thank you!

Yeah, it really does make a huge difference..They are one of the bigger obstacles,I'll be relieved when they are finished and on the car permanently!

Thanks Shoum..Your builds are awe inspiring!

Thanks for the help. I taught myself how to tig weld so I'm still learning. I did more tig welding today on the 1/4 panel and had much better results!

Thanks for the compliments! This build stalled because of other work but I am determined to see it finished

    Thanks guys!

I spent a few days this week chasing some parts for this build. My bud Ken Kull in Pa. had a busted '39 toploader w/double detent top for cheap and a few 97 carbs. The 39 box will need a cluster and 2 gear but otherwise looks good! I scored a good cluster and intermediate gear for it tonight so I'll be rebuilding that this week. I also picked up an old Schroeder sprint car steering box to do a cowl steering setup!
