Maggie & I started our latest trip on Monday afternoon, we only went as far as Gurnee Il the first 1/2 day. On Tuesday we headed for Mentor Ohio to see my ol buddy Don Moyer and view his awesome collection of old chit. We got there about 5pm after checking in to the local Super 8. See, I have always told you guy's that I am a cheap bastard.

How many guy's do you know that have a FULL SIZE DINER in their shop. This was dissembled when he bought it and he reassembled it and used the back wall as the out side wall of the shop.

There is an epic story behind this car. I'll make it a short as I can. His dad built this car back in the day, sold it and Don found it and got it running again. The Lazy 8 still lives and is back in the family where it belongs.

Here is the other pic of the Orange car that I promised. This was on Ohio 322 the next morning. About 100 miles east of Dons place my spousal unit ask's me, did you bring my camera out to the car from the breakfast room at the motel. I say, nope. so here we go heading back 100 miles. I call the hotel and sure enough they have the camera. Now remember that Don is a good buddy so I call him and he agrees to go to the hotel and meet us. This is a picture of the hand off that turned a 6 hour delay into a 3 hour delay.
    THANKS DON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it for tonight, I'm tired. More tomorrow I hope.

Now that was cool. Just wondering if the owner of that place is the owner of the Rebal Reaper, I saw his Willies at a drag strip, cool to see a little history behind the owner of the car. Looks like he's an AMC fan!

We spent the knight in Hanover Pa and hooked up with Junior & Amy, John & John, I think they were a couple but who am I to say.

On Thursday we headed for Baltimore in the rain, the first event on the Rodders Journal schedule was on the harbor in an are called Fells Point. Lots of great restaurants and taverns plus a little square right by the tour boat docks. They had live music, it really was a cool gathering. We got to park next to Dennis O'Brien, lucky us. Notice that I have my Road Trip spiders and rings on. Put the Caddy's on at the show.

This Buick has Appleton's but the interesting thing is the mounting bracket. See how it is specifically shaped to the contours of the windshield trim. Must have been originals for that car.

Saturday was the first day of the actual show held on the grass infield of the world famous Pamlico race track, home of the Preakness. Seems like an awful waste of space for units with only one horsepower each.
    Neat Olds.

Not totally HAMB friendly but neat nevertheless. oops, got someone in the background

    DSC03272.JPG

Reminds me of that one from out west, can't think of the guy's name but it is Maroon and always on the salt.
    DSC03274.JPG

Believe it or not this Mopar is owned by the son or son in law of a guy that I went high school with in Milwaukee in 1956. It is the neatest old Mopar I have ever seen.
    DSC03275.JPG

So Ford outsold Chevy in 1957. Where have all the 57 Fords gone? This is a prime example of what we did to these cars in 1957

That is it for this session, it's off to Carlisle to buy more shit I don't need. But, I always tell Maggie, it ain't a matter of need, it's a matter of DESIRE.

Bob, I'm sorry that we have not met on the road in at least the past year, and probably longer than that. You, my friend, just keep rolling while I have been taking the easy way out. We followed you to Alaska this year, but we did the plane, boat and train thing.

I was hoping to go to Baltimore, but stuck out there. Carlisle might be in the cards. If so, perhaps we can meet up to swap some more lies???
