Sounds like a set of "Inkster" skirts to me. Any one around Detroit back in the day will know what I'm talking about. Torchie.

I don't know that you're going to get more info with no markings on them or particular history. They look to be well made, don't know if they're Jimmy Jones skirts or not. Bubble skirts in general are pretty subjective, you either like them or you don't. Those ones look fairly old, original and in great shape, I'd think they're worth some decent money.
There's a bit more info on Kustomrama and some photos of cars with Jones skirts. Not everyday you read about a guy named Ethyl meeting a guy named Moron... http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Jimmy_Jones_Bubble_Skirts
I think Foxcraft made some too once they became popular. I have a set that I bought presumably fit for a 49-51 Merc, but they are probably shoebox...not tall enough for a Merc. Those look like a pretty nice set. Not sure if the original Jimmy Jones skirts had a gasket crimped into the lip on the back side, but mine do and appear "manufactured" as opposed to "crafted" by hand. Not that any of that tells you anything about how much they are worth, but there you go. LOL Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Those look exactly like the ones I have on my 50. I bought them in 1955. They are not Jimmy Jones but are after market sold by most of the local hot rod shops back then. They are steel and I have been offered in excess of $400 for them. They are not for sale.
They were not known as "cruiser skirts". Cruiser skirts are the ones that came off Mercury Turnpike "Cruisers". They were also long but did not have the "bubble".
Eaglebeak is right cruiser skirts were definately flat and had no "rainbow" at the bottom. Jimmy would say "how much bubble and how much rainbow you want" He was a character!
Barfers, you may be interested to know that from all appearances, you do seem to have a real pair of Jimmy Jones skirts. Especially looking at the "inside" picture they have all the trademark features that he used in the center brace and swing arm. Also all the bends and folds are correct. No one else seemed able to get a nice rounded rainbow in the center of the wheel.
