    Thanks Guys ...
Because of the HAMB forum and all its members we are doing a booming seat business. I wanted to thank each and everyone of you that has done business with us over the years. Your trust in Bengels to build you the finest seat frames available says a lot about you... you have quality in mind. In a time when the dollar is shrinking in value, the business climate sketchy at best, and products are being cheapened as a result it's ultra important to do business in a setting like the H.A.M.B. O'dex. Knowing a company on a first hand basis who knows your likes and dislikes is worth its weight in gold. We know that being able to communicate directly with each other here on the Hamb O'dex is great asset to us all. In this age of the internet one bad report can result in a blemish that has instant negative results on a business. This is why it is imperative we please 100% of our customers 100% of the time.

As a result, this is one of only a few places where we offer discount pricing. The discounts offered here is our way of saying thanks to the H.A.M.B. for all it has done for us over the years. We appreciate this relationship and take it very seriously. When you toss your hard earned dough in our direction for one of our products we know your serious and expect a quality product. We make sure to keep our prices as low as possible for the HAMB Members while making sure everything we build is as perfect as possible. It must be working... referrals to us has shot through the roof in a short time period and it is appreciated! Our hope is that we can continue this great relationship with you and the HAMB for years to come.
    Thank You,
    M.T.

Bengels Hot Rod Products has been sought out to solve the needs of the hot rod industry for years.
The call to build quality custom seat frames at an affordable price has Bengels very busy these days at our Licking Missouri facility. With the first Bengel Sr. chop job on his Model T Ford Coupe in 1952, we have a long proven history as a custom car builders. Bengels knows what is involved with manufacturing quality hot rod parts. We are solving your seating issues one seat at a time.

At Bengels Hot Rod Products each seat frame is hand built to your custom specifications or to our standard seat replacement configuration. We specialize in seat frames for Jalopy's, Classics, and Street rods ranging from the early 20's through the 50's. All bench seat frames can be built with flip up bases increasing valuable storage space. It is a great out of the way place for mounting electrical components, and other accessories. As well, the additional storage under the seat can be used for hiding things out of public view, a big plus if you have an open car.

The Bengels seat frame is 18" from front to back and 4" tall, exactly what he needed to install his electrical and still fit between the console and the back of the cab.

Bengels bench seats are available in reclining Full back, Split back, or Tapered split back configurations as well as offering options of arm rests, head rests, and seat sliders. Seats are delivered to the customer laced with Zig Zag No Sag Springs, fully painted and ready to upholster and install. While some seat frame Mfg.'s have gone to a cable operated recliner we have decided to keep the retro look and operation for our seat frames. We have found that the cable operated seat recliners have issues with the plastic components and are susceptible to degrading and breakage over time. They are available as an option but in our opinion they just look too modern for the traditional vehicles! All of Bengels seat frames are built to retain the nostalgic look of the vehicles era all the while offering the support and comfort of the modern vehicle seat.

As firm believers of giving back to the community we extend a substantial discount of 10% off of our list price to all H.A.M.B. members. It should be noted that this is a huge, huge savings when compared to our competitors pricing, and all the while offering custom built quality seat frames and superior service.

All Bengels seat frames are proudly hand built and assembled in the U.S.A. with the best materials available. Our seat frames are priced much lower than the competition to start with, add to that the HAMB 10% discount and the saving is very substantial. Get our price quote and compare so we can get busy on your seat frame today. Glide past the others and see how Bengels can save your ass!

    ACTUALLY SOMETHING NEW!
    Bengels Has Wings!

While other seat frame manufacturers are stuck on their 25 year old designs pressing forward with trendy electric seat adjusters, we are focused on what you guys want and have been asking for. You asked so we developed a fully functional modern seat frame with the addition of side seat wings for your early traditional hot rod. Seat wings were the sheet metal sides that tied the wooden back and bottom seat frames together for strength. It was such a strong influence in the interior of the early vehicle that the interiors of traditional hot rods just don't look complete without them. As far as we know we are the first to develop the seat wings back into the hot rod interiors using the old school look on new seat frames.

Our winged seat frames can be built in a fixed back bench, adjustable back bench, or split back bench configuration. These seat wings are for cosmetic purposes only and have no function other than making the interior of your ride look correct once again. So without going into a full on sales pitch just know that you guys are the reasons for the Bengels Winged Seats. Also know that this thread is the first and only place where you will be able to purchase these seat frames through out the summer. If they start popping up in other places remember it is a product that started right here on the HAMB! Let us know what your thoughts are on these seats and don't hesitate to contact us with any of your winged seat questions.
    Thanks, M.T.

I just recieved my 28 seat from Bengels. Boy, the quality is great and the price is the best ive seen. Service was fast, and I even received a call from them to be sure the seat arrived in good shape and that I was happy with it. These guys are great to deal with. They get an A+ in my book. If you need a seat, dont call anyone else but Bengels.

Another New item for the Hot Rod World from Bengels Hot Rod Products

    Air Suspension Retro Seat Frames
We have been working on a new product for several months now with the intention of making the ultimate Hot Rod Seat Frame. We have developed a low profile air ride suspension system with an incorporated shock absorber and mini compressor to be mounted within the seat frame itself. We have been testing it in the Off Road Extreme Rock Crawling vehicles with wonderful success and I'm busting at the seams wanting to get it out for review. I'm thinking the Hamb should be the first place its seen as you guys have really been good to us at Bengels. We even decided to go with a name for the system that kinda fits in with the HAMB theme. :D It is calle the Bengels ASS System, (Air Suspension Seating) System We are taking the time to do a Patent on this item so posting any pics of the system is off limits until the patent pending process is completed. I'm going to be offering these system at a introductory option price of $750.00 per seat. This is an option that can be built into the actual seat frame or into the seat riser while keeping the original look to the seat frame.

These frames have been tested on the harshest off road rock crawling environment on earth and passed with flying colors. They are adjustable to any firmness which can be achieved on the fly. Basically what it does is give just enough air cushion softness in the seat frame to take out the sharp spikes and bumps in the vehicle ride. The air bag pressure dictates the smoothness of the ride. Full inflation is like the ride with out the bags, using only the vehicle suspension and seat springs. Exhaust a bit of air and you can dial your ride smoothness right in for maximum comfort...

Bad Back for you or Mama? This just might be the E ticket ride that makes all the difference for you? Doing an extended trip and don't want to stop for gas at every station just to stretch your legs, This might be the answer.

Talk about savy and quality! Bengel's has been the leader in this field in my book for a long time. I was a Firefighter in Spring Valley prior to the merger of many fire agencies in that area. Anytime I wanted something done right I 'd head to Bengels and look up Bob. If they can't do he'll point us in the right direction. Seats? No question about it! Bob at Bengels!!! Where ever you are at it is worth the shipping/handling costs to get it done right.

    Hamb Discount... Who gets it?

We have been receiving a lot of inquires about the seat frame prices through the Internet by people seeing the Hamb O Dex page here. We want to keep the integrity of the discount as offered to the Hamb members only. Its not a Hamb discount if it turns into a regular price and is given to anyone and everyone...

For this reason Hamb discounted prices will only be given via Private Message over the Hamb or at least a confirmation of membership if via email.

If your not a Hamb Member it might be worth your time to take a minute to register. There is a lot of value in this forum both in knowledge and $$$$. We are requiring that at least 25 posts be made to qualify for this discount... If that sounds outrageous either your not a true enthusiast or ? Go to the New members page and welcome 25 new members and your in. But we must insist you are a member on the Hamb with 25 posts prior to quoting your discounted price.

    Thanks M.T.

This is being added to all Email inquires who say that they saw us on the HAMB. To help us insure we are giving Hamb Members the Correct discounted prices please supply us with your HAMB Member name so we can P.M. you with the correct discounted pricing. Please be sure that on the Hamb that your Edit Option to Enable Private Messaging is selected.

The March Model A Offer... 2013
It's time to do this again, So Here's The Deal...

Awhile back we did a special run of Model A Seats and offered them at a additional discounted price as a thank you to the HAMB and its members. We sold dozens during that offer which made it possible for quite a few members to get that extra nice seat frame at a very affordable price.

Last time we just made up a bunch of standard Model A seats and sold them off. This time Id like to take slightly different approach and take Pre commitments. Meaning that on a April 1st will post up when the special run of seats will be done. No more commitments will be taken after that date. When the run is completed and packaged up you will be contacted for payment and delivery instructions. The commitment is just our way of knowing how many seats to manufacture for this one time run.

The Seats for this run are our standard Model A style Bench seat with reclining and flip forward back rest panel. They recline forward and aft to about 45 degrees. The seat controls are mounted on the side with the lever release mounted on the driver side mechanism. Aluminum covers for the mechanisms are supplied These seats have flip up bases for additional out of view storage. They are fully sprung with no sag zigzag springs and painted black ready to foam and upholster.
    The Model A Seats Measure:
42" across the top of the pack panel
36.5" across the front of the bottom panel
18.5" deep on the bottom panel
25" from floor to top of the seat back. (In straight the up position)
Add 1" if seat sliders are used
5" Ride height at front of the lower panel

This offer will honored until April 1st 2013. As this is a special offer for HAMB members only. Please PM me with any questions you may have on this limited one time offer. Thanks again

    * * * Edit... This style of hinge assembly is no longer being offered. We have upgraded to a smoothly upholstered flush seat frame end with no need for either the plastic or aluminum cover plates.

    1928 ~ 1931 FORD MODEL A REAR ROLL PANS...

Finishing what Henry forgot to do...
If Henry was going to build a Roll Pan for the rear of his prized Model A Ford Coupe and Roadster is this what he would of come up with? He would of probably played around with a couple of options. He most likely would of come up with a smooth clean race looking roll pan. But ultimately Henry would of decided on a more distinguished looking roll pan, one that would continue the body lines through out the entire car until they dropped off the back. Just by adding a few sexy lines it gives the Model A that "Look at my A" elegant look. Either way we think its an improvement to an already sexy A body.

This all came about from this thread:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=691108

So this is what Bengels is offering the Hamb Members... And only the Hamb members!

Our 18 gage sheet metal roll pans are available in a Hot Rod Smooth finish, or with the body lines added for a more original look.

For fender-ed cars the wheel radius on the body is extended from the top to bottom of Roll pan end allowing the fender to match up nicely to the roll pan.

For fender-less cars an extended skirt finishes off the side view of the roll pan. Pan skirts extend from the front of the roll pan to just aft of the axle, and can be easily trimmed shorter if needed. The skirts are sold as a pair and an option. Roll pan skirts need to be tack welded into place by the end user as all cars of this vintage are slightly different in fit.

We have built several dozens of these roll pans now and we think we have them down pretty well. Right now each pan is hand built to your order 4 times a year. Depending on how busy we stay with the seats determines how and if we can bump up our roll pan production. Maybe not flooding the market would be a good thing?

All pans have 3 each 1/4-20 nutserts installed on the top edge of the roll pan and a pre punched hole on each end for a mounting bolt. Matching holes will need to be drilled on the underside lip of your pan mounting surface. Mounting hardware is included.

    Hamb-O-Dex Pricing is...
Smooth pans run $350.00 plus Shipping and handling
Bead lined pans run $375.00 plus shipping and handling
Side skirts run $30.00 for the set

Right now delivery is about 4 to 6 weeks after receipt of order but double check with us prior to ordering as these are only built as time allows. If interested contact me with your zip code and I can get shipping costs sent to you.

I apologies for the lack of pics... I will try to get some up soon.

Just a quick word of thanks to everyone who took advantage of this Fathers day sale. The huge HAMB response eclipsed all of our prior sales by a very large margin. As a result we are cranking out some very sweet seat frames and will be all caught up with the deliveries in just a few weeks. I also wanted to thank all that Emailed and Private Messaged me with your questions on when the next sale would be offered... All I can say is every day is a sale day on the Hamb O'dex... But keep a close eye on the HAMB as this is one of only a few places we offer these ridiculously low prices.

Again thanks, and your seats are on their way!

A few of our most common FAQ's
While there are exceptions to every rule I thought I would go into depth to why we do what we do. Instead of just giving you a yes or no answers I think it will make perfect sense when your informed as to why...

Are Foam Kits offered for Bengel's Seat Frames?
Seat foam is an easy sell, easy to upholster, with a wonderful profit margin to be made by everyone who touches it.
So why is the answer NO?

Over time we have found that most of our seat frames are being covered by very qualified upholsters who would like to have full control of the seat build from scratch. With more than 18 different densities of foam to choose from for different weights of people, foam kit suppliers must cover all the possibilities with just one density. The chance of the frame builder picking the correct density of foam for your body weight would not be wise. Foam kits are pre made to cover the full spectrum of body weights which means they are built to support the heaviest of folks. This obviously leaves everyone weighing less stuck sitting on an extremely firm and un comfortable seat cushion. Most reputable upholsters would rather build up your seat foam support where it is desired and needed. Not where we think it needs to be for the sole purpose of making a buck. Typically if the upholstery Girus are going to stand behind their work they want to know exactly what materials they are working with, how long it is going to retain its properties, and if it’s the right density for the end users body shape and weight is being used. Also most seat frame builders that supply foam kits build their seat frames ultra small and use the foam kits to fill in the extreme gaps around the sides of the seat. This is quick and easy for the seat frame builder but requires an excessive amount of work to trim, shape, and fit the foam by the upholstery Gurus... One size, shape, and density does not suit all!

Will the Bengel's Seat Frames accept the original seat covers?
They most likely will not fit.

All of our seat frames are our own designs and shapes. While we do make an extra effort to insure that the seat shape and design is era correct, there is enough difference in the shapes that the standard seat covers will not fit. This isn't to say that we couldn't make you a custom seat frame that could accept an original type cover. Please contact us if this is what your needs are.

Will the Bengel's Seats Frames bolt to the original mounting locations?
    They can but not necessarily.

Typically our seat frames are placed in modified cars and trucks that have had the rusty floors removed, customized, reconfigured and then reinstalled. If you have a vehicle that this is a critical issue with, please contact us with the measurements and we can do all that is possible to match up our seat frames to your mounting points locations.

What is the finish on the frames and why?
The seats are finished in Gloss Black Paint.
In today's modern vehicles the OEM seat frames are bare metal with no need to even paint the frames. They are manufactured and installed directly into the climate controlled vehicle free from rust forming moisture. Most of the seat frames we build go world wide and directly to the car builder. The typical seat frame is not installed for a lengthy time after being shipped. Our main concern is giving the new owner enough time to work with the new frame without the fear of surface rust forming. Many of our seat frames have subtle modifications performed by the upholstery shop that is unique to the way they work. For this reason Powder Coating that is hard to remove, work around, and match is not used.

What is the typical Delivery time after I order my seat frame?
It varies with our work load. Three to four weeks after receipt of order for a standard style seat is a typical turn around time. Slightly longer A.R.O. for a custom built seat frame.

While this is our rule of thumb our workload does vary from time to time. If a shorter delivery time is an issue please contact us and we will see what we can do to expedite your order.

    Why different seat ride heights?
Seat ride height preferences vary from car to car.

We offer two different ride heights on our Retro Standard Seats. So many of the antique and classics on the road today have been modified with mild to extreme chop tops. The seat back remains the standard height in both chopped and un chopped vehicles usually with the seat back top topping off just above the bottom of the window reveals. The problem starts with the head room as it is decreases with a chop. A 6" seat height is our standard seat ride height with a 4" seat height available for the extremely chopped vehicles. Keep in mind that the 6" ride height is typically enough for a mild chop on a car of these eras. Along these lines if your ride has been channeled or sectioned the back of the seat will look too tall in the car if it is left the standard seat height. We can make the seat back to any height you desire... Please use the custom seat page on our forum to send us the custom measurements if this is what you are dealing with. ( http://www.hotrodseats.com/custom-frames/order/ ). As custom car builders we have been there and done that and know exactly what your up against. So feel free to contact us if you have any seat questions at all.

Will Bengels ship out of the United States of America?
    Not at this time.

Bengels seat frames are shipped world wide as we work well with the Export Brokerage house of your choice. We ship via UPS daily and can deliver anywhere in the USA. Call or email us with your mail to zip code and we can quote your shipping and handling fee.

Need a seat frame? Don't put it off until the last minute... Give us a call and let us know what your looking for.

Just ordered one for my 31 roadster with the bat wings!
Bob is very knowable and a pleasure to talk to. He helped me tailor a seat to fit my needs.
I thought about putting a van third row seat in but they don’t look very comfortable to me.
Seems to me if the seats not comfortable even in the most bitchin rides, it’s not going to be enjoyable to drive for long. . And I want to Drive them! Well maybe it wouldn’t be an issue if I was in my 20’s; lol.
Bob defiantly takes care of us H.A.M.B members!

  24. Just got off the phone with Bob and yes he is a great guy. Talked to him about a seat frame I needed for a customers car and he is willing to make any modification needed. We also discussed him building a custom seat frame for my 52 Chevy 2dr sedan and he came up with ideas I didnt think about. I definitely look forward to receiving one of his frames and trimming it out.
X2 Bob will go the extra mile to take care of us HAMB members!!!

Just purchased a seat from Bob and I can't say enough good things about both Bob and his product.
I had some interesting challenges due to inherited work and Bob worked with me and even made extra brackets to make sure all worked out well which he absolutely did not have to do.
I'm even thinking of replacing my front seats even thought they don't need it because I want to support a good business.

We need these type of folks to stay busy servicing our hobby/passion.

    Two things;

    1. Bob please make more stuff we can buy.....
    2. Everyone please give bob a look if you ever need what he's making, seats or whatever.

    You won't be disappointed.

A quick word of thanks for the all that have taken advantage of the "Early Thirty Down and Dirty Seat Frames" offer we posted up late last month. The response has been unbelievable so we are going to run it again back to back. This current run of seats for the most part are finished and ready to be boxed up for shipping. They will be shipped out on Monday the 13th of October. Most of you will be receiving your FedEx'ed seats by the 17th. of October. On Tuesday the 14th we will start the next run of seat frames so let us know if one of these frames will have your name on it. We look forward to talking to you soon.

On a side note... We have boxed up hundreds of seat frames and shipped them all over the world. Once gone we seldom hear back from our customers unless we do some follow up or its is a local purchase. Not to long ago we got our new Web Site up and running. Now its time to start expanding it and adding to our seat frame gallery. If you have purchased one of our frames and would like to have it appear on our Web Site Gallery @ http://www.hotrodseats.com/custom-frames/ please email or PM me a few good pics of your ride with the seats installed, a few pics with the seat out of the vehicle, and a poser shot of you and your ride... Yeah, no problem, do the bad ass arm fold pose, flash your signs, or whatever.... we just need your pic's.
    Thanks Guys and Gals.
    M.T.

I just received the seat for my 31 roadster from Hot rod seats. Bob did a fanatics job of fitting it to my Brookville roadster seat riser. He took the time to verify the seat riser dimensions; so when I received it all I had to do was bolt it together and set it in the riser! I don’t know about you but it seem like every time I order something custom I have to modify it to fit. I still need to bolt the bat wings on, but then again I still need everything from the cowl back! Lol! Of course it will be fun to drive around the neighborhood like it is. The seat’s comfortable! Thank Bob for the Great seat and service!!!
