Just giving everyone a heads up, I finally got the engine started but one of the fittings on a carb was leaking. I'm hoping I can get a fitting shipped to me early next week.

Please check those red fuel lines from time to time. They look cool as hell, but not the safest ones with todays fuels.

Stunning build. 56 two door sedan was my first car at 15 years old. 265 powerglide and I quickly learned how heavy a cast iron powerglide is! I'm local to Louisville so hope to see your car up close. Thanks for the pics.

I heard of the red fuel lines giving people trouble. I have them on my rag top and haven't had issues yet. They have been on there for 6 years now. That said, I do check them often and will probably change them all in the future. The only issue is that they look so good.

Very tastefully done, I hope that it runs as good as it looks!
Chrome wheels and blackwalls look fantastic with that color.

Awesome car. I like the intake choice!

  20. Bitchin '56. Takes me back to '64; had the same model, about the same color as J-Walkings (actually called Competition Orange). But even the mild 283 was hardly "fuel efficient". Still couldn't complain, though, as 103 octane Chevron was still .32 cents a gallon..

Very nice, tastefully simple and clean, I like it a lot ! I just might have to run my 4 x 2 Man-a-fre when I build my 265. It does look neat. Have you driven it yet ? What's it like with the 4 x 2 steup ?

I had a 55 Chevy about 7 years ago but there is something about the 56 Chevy that I have always been attracted too.

Thanks, it is always hard picking a color but I'm glad I stuck with this one.

As far as running, I drove it around the block and wasn't happy with it at all. Seemed to sound different at each tail pipe and hard to stay idling. Back firing at low speed so I knew something was wrong. I first thought it was a linkage issue but I soon found out that I had a broken valve that was stuck in the valve guide and it bent on initial start up. No wonder I couldn't get it to idle lol.
On a good note I found the problem Saturday eve at 4:30, a local machine shop was open installed a new valve guide, valve, valve seal, machined the valve seat and had gaskets in stock. All this for $160 bucks. Piston wasn't affected but I did notice the roller rockers seem to be hitting the valve retainer on some valves. I've ordered longer push rods and different retainers and will have them tomorrow. I'm hoping to have it at the local cruise tomorrow eve and off to The Nationals in Louisville Wed morning.
I've ran this same set up on a Deuce five window and it ran flawlessly. Hoping to get this set up dialed in as good.

I think the intake choice makes the car. I've decided that it won't have a hood for a while. lol

lol I know it won't be good on fuel but I can't sacrifice the look. I was thinking of running C 12 down in Louisville just for the smell out of the tailpipes but it is 120 bucks for 5 gallons and I haven't got any miles on it yet so it will have to wait. lol

I've used the same set up on another car in the past ran great, but drank fuel. I figure it isn't a daily and I built it to have fun with so I'll deal with the fuel cost.

Now this is what you call a CLEAN engine bay.

  30. That white r & p interior almost looks like the real deal. Is it an EZ kit? Looks great; at what is likely 40% of the cost?
Can you get rubber window seals in repro today?
