I bought this really cool GEMMER F1 style box a few years back, its from a Correct Craft boat. Its perfect for the T because the column is just the right length and it has a 360dg rotational flange....so you can mount it anywhere, unfortunately it rotates in the opposite direction because it controls a rudder which is in the rear of a boat. SO i mounted underneath the frame and pointed the pitman arm up....problem solved.

Made some good progress today. I had a plan,,,,the plan was to repurpose everything I removed from the chassis...
The first thing I tackled was the motor mounts, I repurposed the rear crossmember ends that were cut off when the frame was pinched. They had the correct shape and just needed a little messaging.

I think the hardest part was separating the damn gussets from the pieces I needed,

Second was the transmission crossmember. I repurposed the mechanical brake equalizer cross shaft. I removed the bell cranks from each end and the center brake light switch shaft. I trimmed the overall width down, made a mount for each end than clamped it in place. I used the original outside transmission vibration plates for the new tranny mounts. Used a hole saw to locate the mounting holes than traced the donut and cut it.,,,,,,worked out awesome. transmount1.JPG transmount2.JPG View attachment 2671198 View attachment 2671200

Great work, Peter. Really cool details. I wonder if those cross shafts are wide enough for me to use one as the trans mount in the 34...I have a few in the stash.

Pete- good to see this in person yesterday. You're doing it all right, and your brother is going to waste it;)

Mark make sure to save some brake parts for me!

Had an old Jeep YJ front bumper laying around so i took a few measurements and its the same dimensions as the model a frame. The bumper already had factory holes for marker lights so I used one of them as the pedal mount pushrod hole. Had to also make a little belly on the bottom cuz the pedal mount hung a bit lower.
Plans are to cut another chunk for the other side and make a bridge over the trans and connect the two....the bridge will bolt on so i can gain access to the tranny tower in the future.

Don't worry Moose, your bad taste in hot rod motors is MORE than made up for by your good taste in beer, moonshine and syrup. :)

What you mean "thinks" @general gow Me never "thinks".

@gonzo, yup. I crawled inside mine briefly before I blew the body apart, and I'm not gonna be able to make good on all the 'shotgun at ROG' promises I've been making...

A few small updates, nothing major. FInally got the clutch linkage, steering box and lots of other small shit done or at least figured out. The steering box had me all screwed up....It fit perfect underneath the frame but that left me nowhere to hand the bones. There was no room to leave them un-split or even slightly re-locate the original mount. I ended up machining the mount to match the angle of the column and slid it inside the frame but had to move the box back enough to clear the exhaust port...ill have to shorten the column now.

I used a 25 T upper windshield and stantions, just like them better. I removed 11-1/2" inches from the posts and leaned them back a bit.

That's why vertical steering was used on some.
