Bought first car in 1964. Started hotrodding in 1966 through early 70's. Took sabbatical until 5 years ago. Bought a 56 Chev sedan delivery basically done by others so am building the 38 doing all the work myself so far. Truck was a basket case when I bought it in March 2006 and on the road legally for the first time since 1972 on May 2, 2009. April 2012 the truck is virtually done. I still need carpet and some windlacing but it now has power steering and a heater. The truck has won a few awards at local shows and that is very gratifying since, due to too many shoulder surgeries, it will be my last full build unless they discover a way to rebuild shoulders from scratch. The only finishing items farmed out were applying the paint and installing the power steering and heater. It has been a whale of a learning experience and one I'm glad I took on. I think that, if I did it, anyone can. All it takes is perseverence and a willingness to try something new. Seven years to get to this point and I don't know how many hours. But every one of them was fun.
