1949 Chevy but I have my wish list of old cars I want
Looking for one that puts in road time like a Motorcycle club
I was a kid and always thought hot rods and customs old cars were cool. My first car/Van was a 1964 Ford Eco Van at that time it was over 20 years old but it was the coolest ride to me. When I first saw the four nine, I thought, I’m in luck the body is in great condition. It needed paint but there was no real rust and the interior is okay. The front end was done the way I wanted and the style of the car was what I had been looking for. I’m ahead of the game, I thought, this will be easy. I could see myself in the months to come having my first ride down the highway. Our first date was a long drive home towing her with my truck. I kept looking in my mirror to make sure she was still there and when I would see her it would bring a smile to my face. I was doing something I always wanted to do, I was restoring my dream car. Our second date was to clean her up. I spent hours with the vacuum getting all the dirt from the floors and the seats, cleaning the windows so I could have a clear view as if I were getting ready to take her for a spin. Our third date was the start of mechanical and electrical work. Over the next two years, I lost track of how many dates we had but each time I was having fun. Each time brought me closer to my reward, my reward of completion and my dream of driving her. When I was a single man, I would read different articles on car builds and I would ask myself how could it take such a long time to finish a car. There is no way it would ever take me more than a few months to finish. Now I know there comes a time in life when we need to set priorities. I’m not a single man anymore and family comes first.
One day soon, I know my four nine and I will be riding around for hours. I know that all the dates we have had, all the hard work and the time spent with her will be well worth it. It will be well worth it when I can look in the rearview mirror of four nine and see my son smiling in the back seat and my wife will be there at my side So when I get my first ride down the highway I will know that you can’t put a time line on when your reward will come just keep going on your dates and you will get that gratification and reward you work so hard for.
