I restore Jaguars for a living, but build rods for fun. Was born into rods - My Granddad was modifying model T fords in the early twenties and had one that would run over 80 MPH in about '21. Also he build modifyed bikes around the same time. My Dad built HIS first in about 1942, moved on to a channeled PB Plymouth and then a custom '41 Chrysler Saratoga near the end of WW2 as his daily while being a bomber pilot for the Navy. Lucky for me he was never sent out to the Pacific as he would most likely have not come back due the missions they were trained for. Dad never stopped cutting on cars so there was always something around. My first car was a '54 Studebaker Wagon when I was 14 (it did not survive the experience) then a '50 Commander Sedan - same fate. I built my first street rod in High School - Corvette powered '53 Studebaker Hardtop. (aren't ALL 327's Corvette engines?) Then a 327 SBC in a Jeep and on to a LONG string of Studebakers. I built a flatty powered '35 Ford PU, channeled etc. Currently rebuilding my '46 Studebaker pickup - owned it since 1969 so has been around a bit. Too bad I was more into building than taking pictures so not too many of those to share.
