    My family has always been into Packards, Internationals, and Oldsmobiles. Over the years my father managed to collect some interesting vehicles, mostly Packards from 1927 to 1935. All are convertibles. One is a Twelve. None are customized. He also has a 1930 Aerocar Travel Trailer.

    Interest in history and period customs originated with one of my dads friends that hot rodded Maxwell, Cole, Stutz, eight and twelve cylinder packards, V16 Marmons, and Boat Tail Auburns from the twenties through the seventies. Dick Saunders from Rensselaer, NY built many Auburn, Marmon Sixteen, Packard Eight, and Packard Twelve powered customs. His powerplant of choice became the Packard Twelve. He used large bore sizes, domed pistons, and other modifications on the Packard Twelve in several of his customs. He even had one Packard Twelve installed in a boat tail bodied Packard with twin superchargers, that were designed to kick in progressively. He also was very creative when gearing each custom. They each were built with a distinct personality and style. Hot rodding for him began in a 1915 Maxwell. He won several races in the Maxwell when he lived in Massachusetts.
