My name is Dan and I suffer from severe automotive acquisition syndrome and the inate ability to reduce them to their individual pieces.
I got hooked on hot rods in 1976 when my older brother took me for a ride in his 56 Chevy. It ran a hot 327, 4 speed, and some ridiculously low rear gears. The interior featured 62 Impala bucket seats and I remember being pinned to the seat as he rowed through the gears on a back road. I was eleven at the time. From then on I had my nose glued inside various car magazines dreaming of the day I too could have a hot rod.
I got my license at 15 and my first car at 16. It was a 63 Impala SS with a 327 and 2 speed. I had to sell the car when I was 17 unfortunately. My next car came at 19 when I fell face first into the world of Pontiacs. This was a 64 Pontiac Lemans that I still own today. I have bought, sold, parted dozens of Pontiacs since then. The usual GTOs, Firebirds and a handful of big cars have come and gone. And while I still have the 3 listed, I find they are becoming a little too mainstream for my taste. I have always looked for something that was outside of the me-too arena. Now I am at a point where I want to build a more traditional (although pontiac powered) Rod or custom.
I hope I can contribute something to the board. An I'm willing to suffer the bashings that may occur if I post without fully removing my head from its warm abode.Interact
