I am the son of Floyd Grist. Floyd, and his brother, Ralph Grist were the Grist Bros. who campaigned a black, chopped '41 Willys back in the late 50s and early 60s. They set numerous speed and e.t. records (seems they were changing every week back then) and won the '64 Winternationals at Pomona. I was 13-years-old when they sold the car. Dad died of a massive brain hemorrhage on his 49th birthday back in 1974.

When I was a kid I rarely ever missed a race, which was every Saturday night somewhere in Southern California, but mostly at Lions. After dad and Uncle Ralph sold the car I kind of lost interest until my two sons came along and are interested in cars. My youngest has raced a Ford Maverick and then a couple of Mustangs. His best e.t. is a 9.81. He and his older brother have the itch to combine efforts and become the new Grist Bros.

Me, well, with the recent discovery of the old Grist Bros. Willys, I'm now trying to document, assemble pictures, and write copy and learn how to build a website ... www.gristbrosracing.com. It is under construction, but is in the works.

Our family moved from California in 1969 and have lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas since.
