For what it's worth, I personally made the last ever pass down the Lion's quarter mile in a car I built myself in my own garage with my girlfriend and pals. I take great pride in this.

I'm a lifetime hot rodder. I believe that a man or woman who can work with their hands is the backbone of our nation and should be respected as much or even more than a Corporate officer or Senator, etc.

I do all of my own work including bodywork and welding and fab, and I regard building my own car as a mark of great pride. I was the senior engine builder for Louis Unser and blue'd a series of champ motors and sprinters back when his shop was down the street from Mike Kuhl.

I'd rather throw up in a bucket and drink it than buy and drive a ricecar.
