A 'late bloomer' gearhead. Had a 30-year love affair with a 1941 Piper Cub before transitioning to classic cars/trucks (it's a shorter trip to the garage than it was to the airplane hangar). Still have much to learn, but making progress; never welded, painted, or rebuilt major auto components until I took up the hobby of customizing old trucks. First project ('50 F1) was tear down to final paint all in the home shop. I'm in awe of HAMBers' skills -- there's so much talent out there.
