The original car image is from the Library Of Congress. I changed the background and sky and then digitally painted it.

WOW! Great artists on here! Always inspiring.

Here's a couple more from Alex Tremulis' portfolio and a photo I took a couple weeks ago of the Leppan/Tremulis/Bruflodt Gyronaut.

The Ford V8 is dated September 8, 1935, and the blue Graham is probably 1937ish. Both have that "Sharknose" look to them. A little over a year after the Ford sketch, Tremulis would be heading up the styling department at Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg as Chief Designer at age 22, although he had been studying and drawing cars for over 15 years by then.

He'd go on to consult for Graham after they acquired the rights to make the Hollywood and Skylark from the remaining Cord molds. They asked him how to improve on the tedious Cord design. He recommended they scrap the body molds as they were way too expensive to make and couldn't be fixed. He was fired after three days at Graham. It wouldn't be the last time he'd commit political suicide...

Josh the film is outstanding. All your tools look too big for the build. Did I just say your tool looks big? Strike that. I meant the hammer, the grinders, the welder...ah, never mind. Here's a scratchboard I finished this week I call "Who you gonna call?

Lowcab, I'm in luv! with the black white pencil drawing.

I did a few more Gauge illustrations.

This was just messing around with fonts to illustrate the type of Font HRM used in '50

I also played around with the illustration I posted last week

  18. Another great start to the show this week, guys.
LOWCAB, I'm lovin' that pencil work...:)

Mine is an old one - a quick marker drawing I did for some t-shirts for Ed Newett and the 8-Ball roadster team a few years back when we were coming over and crewing for them at B'ville - great times.

I ended up re-hashing the rear wheels for the actual shirt design, but I kinda' liked the way this looked like it was haulin' on by ya' - sort of coming and going all in one.

And that's driver Bob Owens' pony-tail flyin' out back in the breeze!:D

    Great looking show, folks!
I have a couple of things to share and have the Poor Boys CC to thank for the opportunity!
Some time back I was asked to put together a Midnight Mass poster for this years show, coming up July 7th. It's a simple two color design silkscreened on French paper in the Cherry Red pop tone:
This was quickly followed up by the annoucment of the up and coming Detroit version of the show in 2013:
I also got a chance to work on some support gear for the Poor Boys with a few shirt designs featuring a '39 Lincoln Zephyr:

    red version:

    and Support sticker:

For myself, I did a limited run of tee's with my self portrait recently:

On a side note, I've been getting a lot of calls and emails about more Carb Lamps. There are some coming up in the near future, probably next week. For updates the best place to keep track is to do it on Facebook, or my Etsy page. These tend to sell fast, so don't call me if you hesitated and didn't get one.
Have a good weekend, especially you Fathers out there!
