The 4-spoke with the plain center hole is for a knock-off hub, usually used on road race cars...
...the smooth wheel has a "6-pin" pattern, commonly used on early sprint and dirt cars...

The smooth wheels are Halibrand, and more than likely, so are the 4-spoke wheels...

  4. I will buy the 4 spoke if they are for sale. Remember they are ugly

If this wheel takes a 12 inch tire it is for use on a Midgety race car, late 1940's through early 1960's era. The six drive holes are based on the Model T Ford wood wheel pattern. the first Midget wheels were made from 1926-27 brake drums with a 12 inch rim welded to them. Wheel manufactures made the wheels fit what everyone was building. [IMG]

I can only find 4 lugs in photos, searched MK8, 10, and 11. So far no knock offs.

    I'll keep looking.

    Thanks!!!

  11. Hey Girl, its pretty cool you are researching info on the stuff Pop's left behind. So what are your plans, to eventually have a estate sale or keep it in the family or what? I imagine these are pretty emotional times and sometimes it is just best to not do anything until time has passed. I have known others in the same situation.

Yes, just collecting info as we come across stuff we can't readily find. We will have a sale, many sales/swap-meets for the common items, but for some of the higher dollar/unique parts, we are going to do a sale separately for them.

The Track T's and the Bonneville car may stay in the family for a while, but I'm sure most of it will be sold down the line.

Did I mention I have two college age daughters??? :D One is still single. :D

  14. College girls ... I feel your pain ... it aint cheap, put mine through UCSantaCruz!

Maybe when you do decide to have the yard sale you will post it here alittle in advance?... and good luck with things.

You bet, in fact I was consider posting here some of the massive amount of parts for all to see. We are going to put together sale catalogs for each event.

I have one at UNLV and one here at Sierra...thanks for the condolences.:)

  16. The smooth one with the six holes is a big dollar wheel...

The four spoke one... who knows.

It looks like something off an Indy car or Formula 1 car... or some kind of road racer.

If you want to find out what they are worth... don't ask anyone here.

Throw them up on e-bay and start the bidding out at $100.

    :D
