A couple of friends of mine are trying to find out what kind of bus this is. It was spotted near Hanford, WA.
There was a bus like that in the 'Vintage Shots' thread 2-3 weeks ago... was a park tour bus as I recall.
That's a ca 1936 Kenworth. Being new, I can't upload images yet, but this like shows her in service:http://www.bing.com/images/search?q...54E5741CAC3D8E79BF4F80F87&first=0&FORM=IDFRIR Goes to show you there's nothing new under the sun. Preceded by the Pickwick Nite Coach, succeeded by the Beck "deck and a half" and the GM Scenicruiser. That bus is probably the only one in existance, at least on wheels. Kenworth built quite a few buses, sold almost entirely in the northwest. They're rare as hens teeth today. Quite a find!
Found it and specific info on the bus in the photo: http://www.oldbus.us/MemberBuses/BusProjects/1935Kenworth/tabid/147/Default.aspx
Shit that sure is a cool looking bus, If its that rare I hope it gets the resto it deserves someday instead of getting crushed and turned into chinese crap!!
msm618618, Welcome to the HAMB, thanks for the bus info. It isn't Hot Rod related but it sure looks racy, bet it was fun riding in that lower section. Hope it gets restored. I always enjoy seeing these slightly off topic bits of motoring history, thanks guys for the photos of the bus back in the day.
Holy shit. Holy Shit is that thing cool. Holy Shit is that thing the project from hell. Holy Shit were someone to buy that would they have the best build thread ever.
That thing is incredible, would make a GREAT converted RV/tow rig. I too hope it is saved and brought back to life.
Did ya miss the part where there's a positive I.D. on the bus? It's a '35, whether you think it is or not
That post bothered me too, 1935 wasn't the Stone Age. http://www.goodyear.com/corporate/history/history_byyear.html
hmm one of those monster v12 detroit diesels in the back, i bet it would fit in that sucker! lol and it looks to me like it takes all flat glass.. thank god.. that would be $1,000,000 for curved glass lol. would love to have it, but the idiots that run this town would have a problem with me having it in the yard.. but i still want it.
That is one cool looking bus!! If you are in a club it should be a 'club project' then you can have a cool driving advert for the club and a way to get drunk rodders home on rod runs!! Kinda' like the Bay Rodders old Bus(Vic Australia). best pic I could find. Doc.
Kenworth made a split level bus in '29 with tires that look like those. Pictures and info of the bus on the rail car are on oldbus.us,interesting.
Is there a positive ID? Here's a pic of a '34 Kenworth bus. Or is a '37? Because I see this one on a couple webpages with different years associated with it. Whatever the year, the license plate does say Kenworth
For those that missed it. The bus has been ID'd and more information on who owns it and its history can be found here (complete with more photos): http://www.oldbus.us/MemberBuses/BusProjects/1935Kenworth/tabid/147/Default.aspx For your internetting ease, here's the article from oldbus.com:
that is a cool bus. I hope they restore it. and some of them new turbo diesels have balls a plenty to power this beast..just check out the bus jay leno is working on you can find it on his webpage.. just type "jay lenos garage" into google and it wil bring up a bunch of video clips of his old cars iv wasted a couple of hours watching the videos he has from old air planes to million dollar deuce's to plane jane working mans car, he has a real nice 40 Plymouth that was donated to him he just did maintenance and left it as the old man who died had it.. this this bus is way cooler than the one jay leno bought from the city/state of cali. id pay for a ride on her, maybe make it a scenic picnic type rout thing.. turn it into a working piece of museum... thanks for sharing. chris,
