From the Packard company files, here's Gen. John Pershing
(officer's cap) parading in Indianapolis, IN, in a '24 Packard
143 first-series single eight. Inscription on pic back says this
85-horse series was built June '23 through February '25.
Photo is THANKS to "Big Kev" and the PackardInfo.com site!

Mazooma-Interesting shot of Hughes Flying Boat.I noticed something interesting in the lower left corner.I blew it up for detail.I believe this is a surplus 80' Elco PT boat that has been cutdown in the deck areas. The shape and length seem to fit.Hughes may have used it as a chase boat for the Goose.Three Packard engines powered them so this post is sort of Auto related!

PTs were definitely hot rod boats of the day. And made of wood, too, as I recall. Better than a Chris Craft, it was fast AND could blow your ass up. Gary

  13. Not a Firebird proto. Was a 2 seater Pontiac wanted to build. GM brass would not let them thinking it may hurt Corvette sales and turned it down though DeLorean tried hard to get it apprived. This was around '63. Note the VERY strong resemblence to the '68 and newer Corvette. 2 were made and one recently was on Ebay.
