I love the look of a Channeled 40 Ford after Ryans lasts post and conversations I have had
with friends it seems that there was a good handful of them but not many..Maybe east coast? .. I love the Doug Rice Coupe and on a totally other level the Cushenbarry 40 is fantastic.. My dream to build a 40 like the Doug Rice car but that is just a dream,,, its nice to dream..

    lets see some pix..

I love these cars chopped/sectioned/channeled or any combo of each.
Custom convertables of this era make me weak in the knees.

Was it the movie "Hollywood Nights" that had the chopped yellow 39-40 Ford Coupe? That always looked good to me.

I remember this beauty on eBay last year - I hadn't sold my '34 then and it kept taunting me, never seeming to sell. Of course, by the time I had the funds it had been bought, by a HAMBer I think, after Ryan featured it?

Loved this car from the 90's some time. I have a B+W profile shot of it at the lakes in an old R&C somewhere. Pick of the bunch....

I just love them, could be from everyone screaming NOOOO! I get a different vibe around 40's that have alot of work done. Could you imagin cruising the El Matador everyday! Whats the story with the blue one, thats the first time I have seen it. I never got a good look at the one in AG I know there is a thread on here with some pictures of it. Makes me really want to start cutting on mine, bad.

Hey Rik. Do you know what happened to that car on the Hot Rod cover. It was built here in Las Vegas. I have that issue too. I have often wondered if its sitting in some garage here in town, or if the guy that built it still owns it. Any info?

As far as I know Glenn Johnson - the original builder - still owns it today.

These are some nice cars! but for some reason, in my opinion, they look unfinished without the running boards. I like the pics VanHorton posted.

That article from April '52 Hot Rod inspired me to chop my '48 "at home". Great article.

Here's one from Valley Customs, I'm sure somebody out there has better photos of it, this is the only one I could find for now...

Thank Rik.. Im determined to find this guy now. Hopefully he is still here in Las Vegas. I jave never seen the car around here. Tried a google search no good. I have to zoom in on the Liscense plate and see if it is a Nevada plate.

Looks like it says Nevada I made the contrast stronger in Photoshop... still vague since I only have low res photo, but it sure looks like it says Nevada.. The Hop Up article says he (Glenn) parked it on a ranch near Las Vegas... But it does not say if its Glenn's ranch!

I'm stuck on this subject. As many that are posted that look OK I'm still of the opinion that NONE of them IMPROVE the look of the stock profile of the '40. If change for the sake of change is your thing knock yourself out but the effort to plow new ground is lost on this body shape.

Don't get me wrong.. I love the 36 -40 Body.. The best ford design by far.. But this is what Customizing is all about pushing the envelope..Chopping, Channeling and sectioning a car is pretty damm extreme and out of the norm.. Just what I like :D
