Yes, a Miller race car! We will have the beautiful Miller Derby front wheel drive car at the show. This car has an extensive race history including running at Indy in 1928 & 1929 before heading to Europe and setting speed records. You can read more about the history of the car and more details about Gwenda Stewart's speed records at the Miller site. http://www.milleroffy.com/Christies & Derby.htm The restored car debuted at Pebble Beach in 2000 and has been at a few Miller meets at Milwaukee. It graced page 186 in the July 2009 issue of the Goodguys Gazette. But other than that it has not been made available for viewing to the public. It is not often you get a chance to see a car of this caliber at a local FREE event but you can at Manifolds on Main in Irving TX on Saturday Sept 26th. We take pride in Not Being Your Average Car Show! This photo is from the Miller site. From the Jim Pendleton Photo Collection. Besides this amazing car we will also have a great cross section of other vintage race cars. I'll try to post photos of these cars as well. Here is a partial list of the types of cars that will be at Manifolds on Main this year. We are anticipating over 20 vintage open wheel race cars. With pre-registration up over last year we are planing on over 200 cars total at the show. I'd never heard of miller cars till I came to the hamb. Thats some of the most impressive machinery I've ever seen,
Are they gonna be parked all squished together again? I know you're probably a little tight on space, but it was hard to really get a look at all the cool race cars last year. See ya there! I'm gonna have to register at the show.
Eric, The car show has moved around the corner onto Main St. We have much more room. Some of these car will be under tents but we have more cars and more tents. So I hope to have more space between the cars. Should be a great time. Bart
Hami's dad in the family 1/4 midget. This photo is from the late 50's. We will have this car along with a go-kart from the early 60's. Bart
Albert Offy from the Pacific northwest We will also have a display of a few beautiful Tether cars (Mite) Bart
Lotus Formula Ford. This car actually ran at Green Valley! Ray is bringing his Esslinger powered Edmonds midget. Ray still drives this car in vintage events.
This CAE sprint car is so nice. I've seen it run at vintage events. It will be at the show. This is a historic car I am restoring for a guy. The O'Day Offy was a winning car across the Midwest before WWII. Then continued after the war with drivers such as Buster Warke and Ben Musick. In fact Ben's son, Jimmy, is coming to see this "under construction" project.
Thanks for posting the photos of #27 Speedrome. I took the liberty of saving them in my reference file. I've posted the link before and most Miller fans and vintage Indy car fans have it but here is the link to the Miller/ offy website. http://www.milleroffy.com/index.htm Along with the history and photos there are some great sound tracks of the engines. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
Check out the vintage sprintcar thread on here, and post your pics there if you got the time.. Great pics, keep them coming..
I did. It is post #7213 but that thread is such a beast...things get swallowed up quickly. Thanks for the suggestion. Bart

Still room for you. We have much more room than last year. I remember you were in those peoples front yard last year! Here is another sprint car that will be at the show. And a Kurtis midget. This will probably be the largest gathering of vintage race cars ever in Texas. You do not want to miss it. Here is another of my favorites of the Miller. Gates open at 11:00am. Bart
I saw some of the cars that rolled into town today. They look great. We will have a great varitity of race cars for you to see. Bart
