Ryan, no pictures, but what you need to do is plan better vacations. Your neighbours to the north welcome you. $20,000 US is $26,731 Canadian today. Buy foreign and stretch your money. Plus, the road trip back to Texas would make a killer feature.
I had an all original 51 F-1 with the 5 Star cab option a few years ago...great truck. WAY roomier then a 40-41 and rode a lot better too
Mickey Mouse is a terrorist! Disney is scientifically designed to extract your money. All of it. With that said, the F1 trucks have forever made me think ''middle child''. Very appealing body style that got overshadowed sometimes by the beautiful mid '50s F100's. Love 'em.
Dammit AJ, that's why us Canucks can't find any decent deals. And not another word out of you, Norwell.
This truck always comes to mind, although not really nice. If I had it, it would just give me another reason to address everyone around me as "dummy". Dave
Trucks are definitely Hot right now, they are by far a better money maker than cars currently. because of the minimal effort on a good looking Interior, and their lack of expensive chrome and stainless trim. Plus the ease of the build . I sold a 48 Chevy pickup last summer for more than our 65 impala SS, We currently have 5- 47 to 53 Chevy Pickup chassis in the works and 1- 57 Chevy Frame. The 57 will take the owner another 2 years to finish the trucks will be done in 90 days. There are a few F1's around here for sale for a decent price they are not as desirable as the 53-56 or the 40-41. Ill have to check if I can find a link to them, and post up the link.
Kind of Ratty, but neat looking. https://cedarrapids.craigslist.org/cto/6033159114.html I know you said you prefer the 51-52, but here is a nice looking 48 https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/cto/6028942339.html
Here's a vintage pic of the SO-CAL Belly Tank with the "ASSOCIATED GEAR & MACHINE CO." 1951 Ford F1 push truck in the background: ... and a couple vintage pics of the Chrisman Brother's 1952 Ford F1 push truck: B&W: Color: D'oh! ... I see @Sancho already beat me to it!
Sounds like after this trip this may be what you are looking for! Ok, I only had two Bacardi's last night.
My dad had a daily driver 51 in the late 60's, early 70's with a 283 & duntov cam. As a kid I was really disappointed when he sold it, but still had about 8 years before I would be able to drive. He loaned it to his cousin who was doing some remodeling. Told him to be careful of the stiff clutch. The cousin came off too hard at a light and left his load of lumber on the street. I had a discussion about these cabs recently because my neighbor picked one up and I was trying to help him find a direction with it. Though it'd be a PROJECT. WILL 41-48 FORD/MERC CAR HOOD & FENDERS FIT A 48-52 FORD TRUCK CAB?
Buy the truck you really want, don't deviate. As Speedy said, your buck is strong up here. and thirdly, Hotrod Trucks Rule!
This was my old one, I bought it on Craigslist from the family of the original owner. Had around 55,000 miles on it. It had sat for years, I had to get it running, fuel system, brakes, tires...but when I got it home we put a battery in it and the dome light came on! Everything worked. When I got it (yes the boat was in the back) And after getting it on the road
After reading your blog I feel a little better about my recent acquisition. I use it as a truck and really enjoy driving it on the highway. I hauled a load of bagged pea gravel and garden soil this weekend and have put about 1500 miles on it over the last two months. My 2cents: Hold out for the one you want - I think that the climbing resale value will make up for the premium if you ever decide to sell. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
a good buddy of mine in upstate NY bought a solid '41 driver with a 350/t350 about a year and a half ago for 11K. He actually called me and asked me to call her and pretend I was a buyer, he'd given her a deposit and she was slow to get back to him, he was a little worried something smelled, but there had been a family problem and all turned out legit in the end. 50 footer flat black paint and bodywork, decently solid body, Mexican blanket seat cover.
I know it's the earlier model, but check this out: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1949-ford-f-1-pickup-2/
I say hold out for the 40/41 too. Hell if coupes are cheaper get a coupe. They have giant trunks......I have hauled a lot of crap in mine
Well, technically, this is a 50-51 cab. And I like the earlier nose. Not historic, but it on the salt.
