Motion Pictures "The McConnell Story" Roadster

I remember that movie. Didn't know the name of it. Who's "T", and what happened to it? Thanks for the post.

Shows up around 4:48. It's a phaeton but yeah, cool little car. Unless I'm looking at the wrong one...

 

I remember that T- Tub from the movie. Sure had the right look.

 

Actually it would be a Touring, Ford didn't call them Phaetons until 1928, cool T anyway....

 

If you're going to correct @Ryan, then you should probably use the technically correct term

In the US, they were referred to as a Ford Model T "Touring" ... the term "Phaeton" wasn't used until 1928 (i.e., the release of the Ford Model A).

Of course, us Hot Rodders eliminated any confusion by just calling them both "Tubs."

Love to watch those 50's movies to see the filling stations (that's what our area called them!), store fronts, old signs, planes, and yea - the CARS! As always, thanks for posting.

Pretty swell time for 'Merica and movies. The tub should do better with the mag and I'll bet he gets the girl. Hopefully it will still be up later so that I can watch it, thanks.

 

If you can have a roadster pickup, why can't you have a roadster tub????

I don't know who owned it or what happened to it but it looks like the same tub that was used in the 1957 movie
"Teenage Thunder". It had the hand pressure pump, 3-carbed flathead and same exhaust as this one.

I'll second the teenage thunder comment

 

My Father was career military, USAF,and he knew the guy, McConell. However, he never mentioned any hot rod related aspect. Course all he did was try and discourage me from cars or anything mechanical also. It had to be hunting, fishing, or camping related, and I could't stand any of those! Let's just say we did't get along.

@Ryan I'm quite sure the Tub is the Bob Williams T that was on the cover of Hop Up in Oct. '51.

First car I've seen with that side curtain treatment. It's interesting. It's a very clean simple little car. Tubs always get built too low now in my opinion. The pic that Tim posted is awesome. I'd build one Just like that. Simple combo of all the right parts and I think the stance is just right.

 

Isn't Bob Williams the guy who built "Tweety Pie" that Roth bought??
