Hey guys, ive got a 1968 ford galaxie 500 XL convertible. I am wondering what the original equipment/color is, and also if its a real XL (ive got an odd feeling it isnt for some reason). Anyone know where I can find out? Anyone know off hand?
Numbers are:
76B F RA 03E 65 9 W
on the tag under the F it says color, and under the 9 W it says axle/trans. Thats all I can read off of it. Id really like to know so holler if you can help.

It looks like the "regular convertible" variation is designated by the number 65.
The "XL convertibles" seem to be designated by the number 69 somewhere in the body sequence.

thanks for the links
greazer-that decodes the VIN, and my vin is 8D61FXXXXXX (says last 6 digits are for production sequence, so they dont matter) that means its a 68 made in Dallas and the 61 means XL convertible. the F is 302 2 barrel. So thats cool its a real XL. Thanks alot. Do you know where I can decode these other numbers (76B F RA 03E 65 9 W) for the original color, rear end, and tranny?

It's for '67, but most codes (except maybe paint) should be the same.
