Been doin less lurking and more working as of late. My brother and I have been pushing to get the body work done so we can primer the body and get it back the frame. All the patch panels have been done on the floor and trunk. The lower corners of the rear fenders have been patched as well. A litle hammer and dolly work and it was time to attack it with a couple of orbital sanders. The compressor sure got a work out last night.

Two sanders, the dust was flyin'

2 hours later it looked like this.

First time I've ever done this, sure have been learning lots.

Lower section under the truck was quite rough, some hammer and dollying and it turned out pretty good.

Patch panels on fenders.
Tonite I removed the rest of the stainless off the car, now I can finish sanding around the windows and stuff.

Wow, does that look familiar (at least the work, of late). What kind of car? What color ya planning? Hopefully yours didn't need as much straightening and filling as mine.

It's a 49 Olds. Going to paint it a maroon type color (eventually) right now it's going to be suede black. I saw the color I want on a chopped 41 merc coupe, it looked great with the wide whites and sombrero's. But I'm an idiot and didn't save the pic.
Yorg, I'm glad you finally got those templates and valve covers too. Why didn't you tell me that you needed a 56 distibutor, I could have sent an extra along with the valve covers!
Looks great.
One of my all-time favorite cars and one you don't see done too often.
Not sure where you're going with the theme, but you ought to do a little research on the drag racing Olds of Gene Adams.
Besides the blown Olds engine and Cad-Lasalle floorbox - not to mention cranking off 112 mph times when most of us were struggling to make 100 in the quarter - the car was painted a metallic green as I remember it.
I'm guessing either a stock Olds color or the good looking 56 Ford metallic green.
Lessee, built 463" 455 Olds, T-400, Ford 9", white T&R and compressor thingy up top of the engine . . . you'd really have something.
A trip to the past and with enough HP to make the Chevy locals cry....

Thanks C9, that means a lot coming from some one like yourself. I'm not sure what to call the theme of the car. It's going to have a 324 and a B+M Hydro, 4 carb intake, moon covers, mallory ignition, adjustable rockers. The body is going to be nosed and decked. I'm losing the rocker chrome and the fender boots. I don't want to customize the body too much and lose the Olds flavor. Chassis is stock with exception of the airbags, tires are G78 15 bias ply wide whites with Caddy sombrero's. I just want a nice clean driver.
As for Gene Adams, I've found a bit of stuff on him. If you look in the 4th pic down, upper right corner on the garage door. There is a photo copy of a cam add out of some old mag, it's all about Gene and his car. Sure went good for a big ol barge!

Looks good. Be wierd to see an Olds windshield that's still in the Olds! Most of them are in Chevys now! Love those fleetlines or fastbacks or whatever you want to call them. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A older than I am friend has a 49 just like it. Tried to buy it again last week. He says I had it for 52 years and I guess I die with it. Really like the sedanettes.

Poncho, it would go a lot quicker if you stopped by! lol..
I don't want to jinx myself, but if my wallet holds out, yeah I'll be on the road next summer!
The ballast in that frickin light packed it in about a month after I set the body there. I tried to fix it but it's in a real tuff spot with the body there, so screw it!
Chuck, sent you an email, no package yet! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
