Well had a huge fire at my work. It took out everything.
It just goes to show, you can never be too careful.
it was a tragic loss due to a faulty furnace motor.

Man!...That sucks!!!
Something to think about...storage insurance
I know some guys insure their cars all year round, but mine is on the road 7 or 8 months then into the garage.I always buy storage. It's cheap and you know..."SHIT HAPPENS" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

yeah it really sucks
insurance is covering pretty much everything..... thats good
but there was a lot of priceless stuff gone that insurance cant even take care of. every aluminum bodyied car that was in there are just bare frames now with puddles of aluminum around it on the ground. all the wood body frames and all the aluminium are no longer there. 16 rare and valuable british and north american cars burnt.
depressing

Hopefully the owner of the shop was insured to cover his butt. The sad part is you may never be able to replace sentiment in some of the cars. That is truly a loss.

That's a terrible sight. I'm really sorry for the loss.

Good luck in the cleanup and recovery with the insurance company. I hope it goes smoothly.

I just replaced a bad blower motor on my old 1950s furnace here at my house. Thankfully, the old one did it's job and kept tripping and resetting. But it's humbling to think of the possibility of disaster. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Man o life! that blows, a couple of guys around here had shop fires in the past also, one guy had a car on a lift and it got so hot the lift collapsed on the car, the other one took 4 street rods with it, but they were only more common cars! nothing like the priceless stuff that was in that shop, i couldnt tell what they were, but i could tell some were aluminum, oh man.

hey, sorry for the depressing post. the last thing i want to do is depress the hamb. all im saying is be carefull with what you do,, wiring, grinding, welding, chemicals etc. its worth it to be cautious by going the extra step to prevent what ever may or may not happen. once its gone your are left with a huge mess,,, burnt cars, car owners, cleanup, mental health, insurance, investigations, law suits etc

Those photos bring back some awful memories for me. I lost a beautiful 47 Chevy convert to a shop fire a few years ago. Lighting hit the building and burned to the ground, 11 high dollar rides inside including 2 drag cars, a 1911 electric car and a couple of vintage motorcyles. 5 business in a row were completely destroyed. It was a huge, very hot fire, nothing was salavagable. I feel your pain, even though neither of the shops were owned by us, it still effects you deeply, and will for years.

I am truely sorry to hear the news http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This is a good time to take the opportunity to mention that everyone should check their insurance policies and make sure they are not only up to date, but have the coverages that you think they have. Not only for your hot rods but your homes and garages as well. Do you realize that if your hot rod inside your garage is not insured and your garage burns down, that the cars inside are NOT covered under your homeowners. Only vehicles used to maintain your property such as tractors and stuff are insured under homeowners. You need to have insurance on your cars seperatly, even if they are projects, if you want them covered in case of loss.

I can't add anything to what's already been said-other than to add my condolences. I know they are only cars, but shit most of those cars consumed by the fire will never be seen by anyone ever again. And that is really sad! I am especially saddened by the passing of another Packard. In my opinion, the best car ever produced in America (I'm not considering the Duesenberg which is the best car ever produced anywhere in the workld!). Very big bummer!!!
