Check this out... I was on my way home today and I was thinking about some old american racing wheels a buddy had out in a field.

I had a voicemail and it was HIM... wierd???

So I called him back and he was just getting done with work... so I met him at his house.

I bought some rims for my uncles GTO from him... two sets of rallys and i hadnt picked them up yet so I figured I would ask him about the Americans...

Well.. he threw them in. GAVE THEM TO ME.

So I take em home... and restore the first one in a about a hour.

Heres the Before shot.. btw they're ET's and not Americans. GM bolt pattern and the right sizes for all the way around. 15x6. I'm gonna run cheaters on the rear.

I want to thank everyone whos helped and offered to sell me rims in the past week... I was pulling my hair out b/c they were either too wide or too much money or too rough.

so here it is pic one... BEFORE

Funny thing--- these things have been in a field as long as I can remember and I thought they were junk... I remember seeing them 9 years earlier haha... thinking too bad those rims have been sitting outside... god knows how long they were there before that.

I didnt have canadian acid then...
I didnt have a baldor polisher...
I didnt have the hamb...

They were sitting next to a tree in a neat stack. I almost forgot they existed. Friday the 13th FATE. I am a believer...

Thanks guys... GRADY dude fiftys is comin QUICK!!! Hope I see you there!

Now... to order me up some new rubber!!!

You did O.K. Tuck!!
Wheel looks nice.
I don't recommend the acid though,
if you can handle the dust, straight sanding is much better for the wheel.
Acid makes the aluminum brittle.
I've seen some pretty sad cracks on semi wheels, and tanks
where the acid has been pounded to them.
Having said that, a one time treatment isn't such a big deal, and it does make polishing a lot easier.

TP, When I get all wound up and excited its kinda hard to sleep... and ROCKY You wouldnt want these ugly wheels... haha

Polisher thanks for the advice... I didnt know that. I was too damn excited to leave them dirty.

I was gonna scrub them up and glass bead them but I remembered I had some of that aluminum trailer cleaner (w/ hydrachloricacid) and cleaned em up with water. It didnt take much and im really suprised at the results.

I have a question for you... I have about 3 different sticks of polishes... what do you reccomend for aluminum? I need to write it down i swear... I'll PM you if ya

Brush I'll give you a call this weekend!!

I have a QUESTION does anyone know where you can get screw on BULLETS for the centers? or do they slip in from the back side? just curious...

thanks guys~

Dunno about screw on bullets, but they have most every kind of wing and cap you can fit to a hubcap or wheel in bigger truckstops.
Trucker like that kind of stuff.
Check it out.

Those caps look weird but the shape of 'em catches the light and make them "flash" when you're driving.

Thats where I got mine , every now n then there are plain ones and AR's as well , the ET's stick out a bit more it seems.but they do flash.they are on my 56 now.

Damn Tuck, I saw those caps last month and passed on 'em. That's a sweet deal. The guy that sells refurbished mags out of a trailer at the swap meets wanted 20 bucks a cap for those on Saturday. Glad to see you did good.
