What kind of cars where they? I think they where both roadster.I saw then in my "reefer" years & thought maybe it was just me who saw them!!LOL http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Near the end of the Waltons series- the youngest boy took his model A roadster and made a highboy out of it- as i recall it was white and still ran the banger. It was only in one or two episodes as I remember.

Seriously, A really good movie is Hitchcocks "What about Harry?" It is a great early sixties type movie with a great atmosphere.....but one really cool part of the movie was that the town cop restored antique cars and drove them. No Hot rods, but fun anyhows....

i almost picked up an early jack nicholson flick called "the wild ride." he's a beatnik (watch out!) that's into dirt track racing by day, and kidnapping his ex-buddy's girlfriend at night and killing cops and stuff. not sure if it is ANY good at all, just had a neat RPU on the front.

actually, i think that may be jack's first film ever. I have that video in black and white. His name in the movie is
"johnny"...! he's a bad ass too.

i remember the episode of My Three Sons where Chip got the model T coupe . does anybody rememeber the episdoe of leave it to beaver..(ward,weren't you a little hard on the beaver last night?)..when wally buys a 36 ford 5 window coupe for $25 and everybody(including eddy haskel) thinks it's a POS? he parts it out and gets his money back..less $20 for the junk yard guy to haul the carcass away? i have it on tape,it dives me nutz every time i play it!

as for hot rod movies.....has anybody seen "Hot Rod Girl" ??
it was made in 1956....frank gorshem (the riddler in the TV series Batman) was in it..lot's of cool cars..some racing..some loving...typical B movie stuff..got it on tape too.

how about "reefer madness"..?????made in 1936 on the evils of smoking funny little cigaretts. that movie is filled with potenial hot rods...but when the 1936 ford goes over the cliff,it's enuff to make me cry....

I think Nicholson's first movie was the original B & W Little Shop of Horrors. He played the masochistic dental patient.
But I've got both just in case.
Got Steve McQueens first movie too wiht a handfull of hot rods and a "backwards drag race" It's a Sci-fi monster movie called "The BloB"

Oh yeah, it's all good, the movie where Jack Nicholson crashes a 35 phaeton into a tree is Chinastory?, a bloody good movie too.
If you wanna see old cars that you can only dream of hot rodding, look at the old 3 Stooges tapes, there's one where they totally fuck the paint job on a new 36 sedan, and others where they wreck a 34 phaeton and others http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I really liked the original "The Shaggy Dog", it had a bad ass roadster in it, the kid that turned into the dog was driving and there was a great police chase, yeah saw it when I was a kid at the movies, and watched it with My kids prolly 6 years back, I gotta watch that one again. Von Doc
