I'm guessing 14 or maybe 16 gauge? Anybody have one handy to measure?

damn, mic or no gauge with me, but i used the laymans check for ya. It is slightly thicker than a penny, but not as thick as a nickle...

20-25 year old 13" Moon disc = .070

20-25 year old 15" Moon disc = .068

Works out to be 15 gage on my sheet metal gage.

A small fwiw - I bought a new set of Moon discs about three years back. The Moon guy assured me they were the same pattern as the older factory drilled ones - which I understand the 20-25 year old ones listed above are factory drilled.
Older ones, say 40 years old or so you had to drill yourself.
Reason I mention the drill pattern is, I only have two of the 15" discs and the wheels were drilled to their pattern.
The newer discs are a different pattern.

Somewhere along the line I found a set of 15" Eelco discs - similar to Moon - they didn't match the older Moon drill pattern either.

Jay, I wound up with a BOX of old Moon disks.
About 16 inches in dia. (that would mean for a 15 inch wheel wouldn't it?)

They are "screw on" type, and have THREE holes around the outside rim.

Grim, I'd measure the thickness, but the one here in the shop is screwed to the wall. (has George Barris's autograph on it!!) If you need an exact thickness, I can drag out one of the others, and measure it with a mike.

16" OD is right for 15" wheels.
Same rule holds true for the other discs as well.

And seems to hold true for wheel covers - bought a set of nice Buick covers, they measured 15", turned out they were for 14" wheels .... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Haha Bruce, start checking your mailbox as well. There's an orphan headed your way.

choprods - Not looking for actual wheel covers, but I'll show you what I'm up to if I have something by then and you manage to stop by on your way to the Werld-o-Weals show. I need your opinion on part of my setup anyway. You don't have to call first, but here's the number in case you want to make sure I'm home. 816 561 0415
