what has anyone used for a frame on a 50 chev pick up, and how good or bad was the process?

Used the stock frame, with a rack and pinion setup, took 2 days. easy work..been satisfied for many years.

friends dad had one running on an old full size mopar frame,392 hemi,push button tranny.He's a farmer and that slapped it together for the hell of it.I never seen it but he said crude and fast.....

Put a '62 stock GM truck chassis under a '51 once. It wasn't too bad. If I recall the only bugger was the steering colum had to have a couple of u joints (back before the flamming river days).

Save your self time and money, use an S-10 frame. Nothing easier or cheaper.

I put an ad in the local trader paper to buy S 10's and I had two offered to me free for the taking. It is worth a try.

You will need the 118 inch or 122 inch wheelbase frame so you can shorten it to your wheelbase. The 108 inch is too short and will need to be lengthened. S-10 long box or extended cab. Nutz

Just curious..blazer or jimmy frame too short? I havent measured one yet. Also..is the factory rearend too narrow so you have to modify the original interior panels of the bed? I saw some pics and they had made inner wheel wells..didn't like the looks
