Just wondering what you Pontiac fans are runnin these days? I have the original 370 in my 58 Starchief I'm slowly attempting to get road worthy and I was just curious if there's any HEI dizzys available for the odd GM motors? I looked @ Summit and it "seems" like their blueprint HEI would work fine...since they've listen them as 1955 & up. But then I looked @ the details and alas there is no 370 in the line up of applications.
I hear so many damn mixed opinions on the Pertronix, I'm just not sold on em yet and replacement HEI parts are available everywhere., they have a better track record as far as reliability goes..etc etc....

So what do you all suggest? And please don't tell me to ditch the 370...cause I aint doin it! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Distributors for Pontiac engines will interchange physically from 1955-1981. This includes 287-316-347-370-389-400-421-428-455.

Yeah, I'm running an HEI from a late 70's poncho in my 1960 389 engine. Bolts in.

My cousin is a machinist. He slices the dist. in half and tigs on a HEI top half. I've seen him build HEI distrbuters for LA Mopars, Oliver tractors, etc...

All he needs to know is the firing order.

WOW! FANTASTIC! Simple as that! What a relief!!
I had some notion that I'd have to pay some freakish dude in the land of the hobbits, to travel far and wide to a secret un named location , where the locals only speak in a strange language that sounds like yiddish and welsh all at the same time, to find this magic solution http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks again everyone. I'll dial up Summit again and do me some ordin.
